Pressing most of the buttons elicits nothing but a "Please upgrade" notice. You can't even use the time-line slider to rewind within a track! The clunky and poorly designed interface doesn't help any. Adding (minor) insult to injury, Avant DVD/DivX Player installs an extra shortcut on your desktop without first getting your permission.

Neither the functionality nor the appearance of this woeful DVD program deserves a theatrical standing ovation. Avant DVD/DivX Player barely delivers the basics. It lets you play a movie, navigate chapters, and select options for subtitles and languages--and that's about all.

Since it's free, inveterate penny-pinchers may want to have a look. But given its limited feature set and so-so design, not to mention a market saturated with better products, we can't recommend Avant DVD/DivX Player.

Not a great deal really - ugly, dated interface and hardly anything works

Nag screen keeps appearing - no option to get rid of it. This version is VERY limited - although buttons like fast forward, rewind etc are visible, clicking them only brings up a nag screen for the full version. The buttons don't actually work.
Summary
This is avery limited trial version only. With a clunky, dated and ugly appearance, I don't don't why anybody would want to pay money for it, even if it did work.
