  No help file. Works once then never again (until you close it and reopen it and reset the options.)

  It's just what I need and it did just what I wanted it to - once. I wish someone would come up with a little program like this that works.

  I'd set it to shutdown automatically on a daily basis. It worked the first day only, and never again as it was supposed to after that. I even registered it, tweaked settings, but could not get it to function again.

  In my previous review of this product I couldn't get enough of it. I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Since then, however, my opinion of this product has dramatically changed. I have since taken this product out of both of my computers because of it's repeated failure to perform. This product, after being properly configured only completed it's task on two occasions. The first occasion being after I first installed it and performed a test run, setting the shut down time only a couple minutes in the future. The second occasion being the first night I left the computer to shut itself down. Since then, the product has failed to shut down my computer on a consistent basis night after night. The only time I am able to get the product to function as it should and shut down my computer is if I happen to be sitting right in front of it waiting for it to happen. Then it seems to go off without a hitch. However, when I come home at night after work I find my computer still on long after it had been programmed to turn off with no indication of the program even attempting to work. I had this program at my home computer as well as my laptop that I take to work and I have gotten exactly the same result on both computers. The program will work if you wait for it to work, however when you leave expecting it to work, it will fail every time. Now some of you might think I'm some shmoe that doesn't know how to work a computer or a hot head that keeps screwing it up. However you'd be wrong on both accounts. I uninstalled and reinstalled to make sure I didn't miss something during the install. I configured and reconfigured. Verified the program was active and working "properly". It was unblocked from both my firewall and my security programs. I tooled with it for days and could find no real reason why this program shouldn't have been working as designed and shutting my computer down. With all of that said, I give this program 2 stars because it is a decently thought out program, it is easy to get, easy to install, and easy to use. However that's where the ease ends and the difficulty begins. I would advise any user thinking about this program to think again and keep moving. Getting this program will be a waste of your time and efforts and will disappoint you every time.

  Easy to use. Quick, simple install. Starts automatically with Windows, so no fuss of remembering to start it.

  They could be a little more clear in how to set the frequency and function, but not too difficult to figure it out.

  Summary

  This product does exactly what I need it to do; shut down my home PC at a specified time, every night. In this day and age, energy efficiency is everything. I don't always come home at night from work at the same time and I don't always remember to shut down my computer on my way in. This program does that for me, at times and frequencies I can specify which is fantastic. Plus I can set it to turn off before I get home so it doesn't tempt me to sit down at it when I should be in bed. Now, I remember reading somewhere that someone said you had to set this every day. Not true. That person obviously didn't bother to look at the 'options' tab or they would have found where you can select 'once', 'daily', 'weekly', etc., etc. You can specify whether you want to completely shut down, or simply restart among other things. You can tell it to force the shut down if necessary. You can also tell it to answer those stupid 'End Now' questions that Windows likes to throw at you. After you've set your time and selected your options, simply click "Activate" and boom! Just like that, you're done. Simply minimize the window and the program runs silently in the background. A simple fist icon in the task bar is all that remains. Does not slow performance. For the price of FREE-95 you really can't beat this program. It's simple. It's easy. It does exaclty what it says it will do without any complicated mess. If you're looking for a great little application to shut down you're computer while you're away, this is it. Look no further.

  AutoExit doesn't automatically set itself to switching off the same time day after day. You have to set the date yourself, which is cumbersome if you have a lot of things on your hands. An update of AutoExit including an automatic shut-down would be really convenient.

• Great Shutdown Utility

  Pros

  I tried a few of these programs. This one is the best so far. It has a Lot of bells and whistles (Options). I haven't tried out all of the options, but I'am sure they will work just as well. This is a worthwhile download. I give it a Five (5) Star Rating.
