Make Windows understand music: AudioManage is a music-aware virtual filesystem for Windows. It adds a unicode MP3 tag editor and music organizer to any Windows program. It can handle ID3, Vorbis, WM, APE, Vorbis and files like MP3, WMA, ASF, OGG, FLAC, MAC, AAC, M3U, WPL. It's virtual folders views can be browsed in any Windows application--no need to run any separate program to use the library--even right in the Windows File->Open dialog box. AudioManage fully supports Unicode, not just in tags, but also in it's filenames. You can also update album cover and track information from web sources (amazon, freedb), without any typing. Find and remove duplicates based on name or audio data. The built-in search engine can not only find files in a flash, but also store your query as a folder for later use. Playlists can be created with a single click, or drag and drop. All management including burn to CD can be with drag and drop.

Version 2.1 uses a completely new database engine, features interface enhancements, and speed improvements.

Pros
I found this program after I had already spent a fortune on so-called tag editors, renamers, organizers, duplicate removers... but this program did all of that so elegantly, and for a price less than EACH of them! Amazing. It's a work of art, I keep wondering why Microsoft didn't think of this! It's like Google, but for your music!
Cons
I would rate it 5, but for a minor bug that I sometimes see (and have reported - the nice people who made it promised me they'll have it fixed in the next update). When that happens, I'll update my rating!

I first got a copy that was bundled with a USB pen drive (that doubled up as an mp3 player) that I got for my son. It seemed a little old, but the website happily upgraded it to the latest version for free. Not that it mattered - I would easily have paid for this one (and it's quite inexpensive). Ever since then, I'm hooked. I had some old Hindi titles, which I just didn't want to 'transliterate' into English just so that they can be used in a computer, and Audiomanage did the trick. It not only let me add Hindi tags, but also let me have hindi filenames (I didn't know that was even possible!). And, most important, I did not have to switch the main language of my Windows from English, as it let me add whatever language tags I wanted irrespective of default system language (or whatever it's called). In fact, my wife who's a Gujarati, was thrilled that she could actually have gujarati tags for her old folk songs collection - audiomanage has really opened a whole new world for us, where we can finally use our own native languages. Having XP support multiple languages is one thing, and having a program actually let you use them is quite something else!

Pros
It's so intuitive, and becomes so much a part of Windows, that one wonders why Microsoft never thought of it first! I've never seen an organizer like this: while it does tags beautifully, without you ever realizing that you are actually editing tags, one never really NEEDs to edit them because this software manages the whole collection in real-time. <p> <p>I also like it's extremely low price, which is very affordable for a just-in-college guy like me.
Cons
not really much that I don't like, except that I can't print cd covers that are retrieved from amazon... but I can save them as JPEGs, so that's not really a big problem.
