This simple recording utility handles its job with no trouble, although its trial restriction and lack of notable extras may turn some users off. Audiolib MP3 Recorder's tiny main interface is easy to learn, and a spectrum visualization helps spice up its otherwise ho-hum appearance. The application lets you adjust the signal strength from a variety of sources, including a CD player, a microphone, or a telephone. It's nice that you can capture MP3s at bit rates of up to 320kbps, but support for the VBR compression scheme would be a nice plus. It's also a shame that the program fails to include both voice-activation and scheduling features. However, Audiolib MP3 Recorder's biggest misstep is that the demo will let you record only 30 seconds of sound, which makes it hard to put the program to any serious use. In its current form, this recording app is only a fair choice at best.
