AudioExtract for Windows

This utility makes quick work of removing audio from video files but doesn't offer any extra features to get excited about. AudioExtract can pull sound from a number of popular video formats, but it can unfortunately only output audio files in the WAV, AIFF, or AU formats, neglecting other popular codecs such as MP3 and OGG. Clicking the Mode menu item lets you toggle between screens for adding individual files or extracting audio from multiple clips at once. Neither interface is visually appealing in any way, although we're glad you can simply drag files into the queue. The application lets you determine the quality of your audio files, but we should note the trial version will make you restart the program after you've removed sound from three videos. However, since that's not a huge deal, we can recommend AudioExtract to anyone who needs to perform this simple job and doesn't care about bells and whistles.

Pros
Took approx 1min to download and install.
The Quicktime movie I wanted sound from took only seconds to rip. Very simple. Easy to use.
Cons
None. Does whats its supposed to for such a small application (Size 807.42kB)
Summary
This is not a FREE license!!!
Karl_kajasFebruary 8, 2005
Pros
Does it have any?
Cons
First of all, it is not a free license, as it only extracts audio from 3 video files.
Second, it only extracts from files that can be read by QuickTime, which is not clear from the description.
A simple .wmv is not possible.
conclusion: not worth downloading!

Summary
It is not free. When you try to use it you are informed that you get to extract audio from 3 movies before you have to pay. Then, it fails even to do the 3.

If you're looking for a program to simply extract audio from video, this is it. No adware. A monkey could figure it out. Only, I wish that you could save the audio files in formats other than the WAV or AIFF options! Ah well. Can't win 'em all!
