Software does planetary calculations in Tropical or Sidereal zodiac and seven house systems for 8,000 years. Includes Yellow Book Atlas with coordinates and time zone histories back to WW II for 250 countries and 9,000 cities. Future time zone changes can be automatically incorporated through a menu selection for Internet download. Without having a time changes atlas such as the Yellow Book Atlas provides, the astrologer can guess wrong what time zone a city observed in the past, including daylight saving, which will make a subject's astrology chart incorrect. There are interactive maps of the World, U.S., and Europe. Users can save calculated birth charts for review, change, or comparison with other charts. Users can easily look at their current transits or examine astrological compatibility between people's charts through the synastry aspects between them. The program includes the minor planet Chiron and the moon's true nodes. The program displays two types of graphic wheels, a classic wheel and one showing interactive aspect lines as well as aspect patterns, which the program will detect and display. Astrology for Windows includes calculation of solar and lunar returns, transits lists, and composite charts, including a chart for two people and the triad chart with one's parents, which acts like a second birth chart that can say for what purpose the child was born. It comes with the 40-page Classic British Astro Report for interpreting single charts and the Soul Healing Transits Report to do chronological reports that interpret the transiting aspects. Reports can generate to pdf Adobe Reader file format or to html web browser format. As a program user, you can easily develop your own interpretation sets and use the program to immediately create reports from them (you can also have Halloran Software pay you for permission to resell your work to all the program users).

Calculations, atlas, and interpretation reports are free forever. Unregistered limits: save more than 100 birth charts to file, delete charts, make use of the maps of the United States and Europe, print (or copy to the clipboard) the color graphic wheels for more than saved chart number one, and calculate the list of transits for more than saved chart number one.

Pros
This program provides most of what Astrology dilettantes need to do their thing. Excellent intuitive user interface, feature packed, and varied views of maps, transits and aspects. Astrology for Windows allows you to do native charts, transits, solar revolutions and compatibility charts. The developer is very proactive in fixing bugs. I reported problems with printing and converting to pdf, which were promptly addressed.
Cons
This is a mature program, so the bugs are pretty minor. Rest assured that if you report any problem, the developer will take care of it right away.
Summary
I've used Astrology for Windows for many years, and believe it's a perfect combination of simplicity, features, and great value. I highly recommend it.

the graphics of the chart are extremely clear and large enough to see easily....colorful without being gaudy. The ability to view the aspects in list form , Then to see the aspects as a graphic illustration in the center of the chart....which can be displayed as both a combination of the harmonious & disharmonious major/minor aspects, or separately in each category , all from an easy to use slider bar right on the front of the chart page... There is the capacity to copy the data about each chart and paste it into whatever word processing program you have, to save in a file or to print it out.... There is a transit section which is quite comprehensive again very easy to use, and there is a large index and help section The report section has concise , interpretations of the chart components in both the Natal & Transit mode..
Cons
There are not many cons for this program, and should any glitches show up, John is quick to fix them.. as he did with the Atlas problem... Good things really do come in small packages...
Summary
Overall this is a program that a beginner and those a bit more experienced in Astrology could use readily before advancing to the even larger report writer program, another of John's Gems....

Not many, small issue, when entering birth month, and press enter it defaults to the atlas instead of the birth year.

Easy to use and understand, a great place to start for learning to read astrology charts for yourself. I use the base program and it works for everything I need. I have several friends who have the report writer, and they have many positive things to say. The Chart is clear, prints well, looks good. Switch between the wheel, to the transits in one click. Simple, no-nonsense no endless drop down. On the technical side: DAMN stable windows program. I mean seriously no memory bleed, no kernel crashes even in 64-bit mode. I have been using Halloran Astrology since..dear gods, Windows 3.1!!!
Cons
Requires the basic understanding of map reading to enter your location if you happen by strange circumstance not live in one of the preset map locations..if you do, then google lat and long for your current location.

I have been using the Astrology For Windows Program for the past thirteen (13) years. It is truly an outstanding program. I give credit to it's developer for it's accuracy and precise calculations and functions.It is indeed very easy to use and even the novice or beginner will be comfortable using it. It carries outstanding features and an extensive report.

I cannot think of anything adverse but am certain one will enjoy using the program.

Very comprehensive and clearly set up program. Great graphics and easy to navigate...interpretations in reports are excellent.One of the features that I have found to be of great use is the sdjustable method for viewing the strength of aspects, either all or only the harmonious/inharmonious type...gives a better idea of which aspects are stronger/weaker... have not found anything similar in other programs... The Chart illustration is super clear and easily view'd..not cluttered by a lot of unnecessary frills..has many other useful features that help to navigate the process of chart investigation... Has a superb Atlas, that covers just about any place you might want..right down to the smallest village in the back of beyond.. only a few of the many great components in this program.. Way to go John....
