• Can't use mail saved from earlier versions

  Not downwardly compatible. Therefore critical files that were saved from earlier versions of AOL can't be opened in a useable format. Get with it AOL there are millions of Mac users who need a fix for this either as a separate program that can be run to convert old AOL documents to version that can be used by 1.7.784 or to some other acceptable format like MS WORD.

  Summary

  AOL has abandoned long time users with this version.

• Can't delete trash from trash

  I still cannot delete the trash out of the trash folder and it's been this way forever. There is no delete button to delete the trash out of the trash folder. When I try to delete using the delete key on my keyboard, it won't delete the trash either. Why hasn't this been fixed yet? It's been like this for a long time now.

  Quick Browser (I don't really need). I like the mail structure generally.

  Cons

  huge cons here. First, if email has an attachment you can't view the body of the email without downloading the attachment. Second, this latest version doesn't have a folder for old and new mail. Someone please pay attention.

  Overall, very balky software, hangs frequently, attachments are a pain in the butt. Too time-consuming to bother with. Can't create hyperlink in email. Can't view email without downloading attachment. On and on.

  Bad mail section. have emailed AOL several times with no response. Spam doesn't work. Attachments take for ever to download and sometimes never do!

  Frequent freezes and crashes. Slow loading of emails. Poor customer support.

  AOL is too busy trying to maximize advertising and control over your email, they have not improved the Mac version since it came out, I actually thing that it has progressively gotten worse.

Then it will hang up on entering characters. really disappointing that I have to keep going back to the original AOL in order to just read email.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I downloaded an earlier version of this thinking that I'd get new features in AOL Chat Rooms....... What was I thinking? I can't even get to AOL Chat Rooms with this. Basically this is just another browser and I highly doubt that it will be better than Safari or FireFox. So I will continue to use the lame AOL version 10.3.7 from 2005 so I can chat with friends in AOL Chat-rooms. What a disappointment this is.
