If you frequently find yourself saving large batches of images from the Internet, you've likely already figured out that there's a better way to do it than right-clicking on each one individually and saving it to your hard drive. Programs like Any Image Downloader can automatically save numerous images in just a few seconds. Although we found Any Image Downloader easy to use, it didn't quite live up to what it promised.

According to the developer's description, Any Image Downloader can be accessed via the context menu in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, or Internet Explorer. In our experience, however, the program only worked with Internet Explorer; in the other browsers it didn't even appear in the context menu. We did like the way that Any Image Downloader worked in IE; we navigated to a Web page full of images, right-clicked, and selected Any Image Downloader from the menu. The program's interface popped up, displaying a preview of all the images with check boxes so that we could deselect any that we didn't want to download. You can select whether you want to limit your download to small, medium, or large images, and you can also limit your downloads to PNG, GIF, JPG, or TIF files.

We chose the destination folder that we wanted to save the images to and clicked Save; the program saved all 18 images on the Web page almost instantaneously. Any Image Downloader has an online FAQ but it's pretty bare-bones, so don't expect much in the way of guidance if you have questions. Aside from the fact that the program didn't work as advertised in most browsers, we found it easy to use, and we recommend it if Internet Explorer is your browser of choice.

Any Image Downloader installs politely but leaves a Start menu item behind upon removal.
