Editors’ Review
The only cost for this tool that greatly simplifies anonymous surfing is a small amount of advertising. Anonymouser's interface is merely a pair of options on your context menu. The program installs quickly through Firefox, and doesn't tax the browser.
This app is a snap to use. Right-click a link and choose to open the site in the same or new tab using Anonymouser. Unlike similar anonymous surfing tools, we detected very little lag using this utility. Sites opened through the program's proxy only slightly slower than without. The extra time was primarily because of loading a small advertising box that partially covered the intended site. The box is easily closed with a mouse click, and it never contained inappropriate content during our tests. Testing against sites that glean personal information from your browser, Anonymouser protected our data. Though the program announces itself to Web sites, it doesn't pass on your personal IP address, browser type, or other typical information.
We had only two problems with this tool. Anonymouser can't open sites from the navigation toolbar and it automatically enables JavaScript, even when the language is disabled in Firefox. Nevertheless, users who occasionally need anonymous surfing will find that this free item fits their needs.
