Share ideas and information in a private messaging environment.
AltME--private chat, group chat, with instant applications like checklists & calendars. The Alternative Messaging Environment is a powerful yet easy-to-use communication system. It quickly downloads and runs on your own PC where you are the master with full control over users. Security is provided through encrypted data transfer and authenticated user logon. This is the perfect system for small groups of people who need to communicate ideas and information quickly and privately. Teachers can share homework assignments and answer questions. Non-profits can organize their fund raising efforts. A group of friends can chat without the worry of uninvited participants. AltME has a built-in update feature so you are always running the most current version.
Fun to communicate with other computer users in the house
Cons
Can't figure out how to add people outside the home...and sometimes get error messages on the check list function
Summary

Pros
I was able to host my own world and communicate with people from around the world securely in minutes. It helped us to break topics down for easier communication than clumsy e-mail could ever hope to do. Their website explains how the product was written in a new powerful language called Rebol. This made it small and compact with rich features.
Cons
The only thing that I can see is a negative is the file sharing capabilities. However, the company did explain that their 2.0 version will included that as well as the ability to distribute powerful application written in the Rebol language.
Summary
This allows you to chat worry free from intruders...

I insist that my children use only AltME for messaging. Only people they invite can join and all the messages are stored in our home computer. Since every message is encrypted during transmission, I don't have to worry about hackers, or people who we don't know.
