In the 1920s, British Museums archaeologist Sir Leonard Wooley (1880-1960) found two of these game boards in the city of Ur. There is evidence that The Royal Game of Ur was the most popular game of the era. It is a typical race game, the ancestor of the genre. The rules applied in this iPad reconstruction are based on a cuneiform tablet from the 2nd century.
