Ad-Sweeper for Windows

If you're tired of dealing with pop-ups while surfing sites, Ad-Sweeper will remove those speed bumps during your scenic tours of the information superhighway. However, the trial limit is restrictive, and the pop-up blocking features now built into most browsers have equaled this utility's appeal.

Ad-Sweeper has a small, easy-to-comprehend, simple-to-navigate tabbed interface. Selecting a level of blocking and specifying URLs for the white list were simple steps in our tests. The utility hides in the Windows taskbar, and retrieving it or choosing commands from its right-click menu was a snap. Unfortunately, Ad-Sweeper works only with Internet Explorer. Though the newest version of IE includes a pop-up blocker, this tool works on older versions of the popular browser. The demo limit--10 sessions--is a bit restrictive, and the pop-up blocking features of IE make Ad-Sweeper redundant. Nonetheless, those with older versions of IE may appreciate this utility.
