Though designed to customize the way applications minimize their windows, this modest utility doesn't always work as promised. Actual Window Minimizer initially provides a list of common applications, including WordPad, Windows Media Player, and Yahoo Messenger, and you can add others. The window for configuring programs is a bit cluttered and somewhat daunting, especially for novices. It displays program information at the top, with three tabs below for minimizing options, for title buttons, and for a windows menu. With Actual Window Minimizer, you can send programs to the system tray or minimize them to your screen edge. But in testing, the program didn't work on with all applications, even those included in its list, and the help file mentioned features that weren't found in the demo version, such as the ability to make a window transparent. Despite the generous 60-day trial, most will want a more flexible and effective window manager.

Developer's Description

Minimize any desktop window to tray by various means.
Actual Window Minimizer adds an extra Minimize-to-Tray button to every window's title bar so that you can send any window to the system tray in a single mouse click. It offers many other ways to perform the minimize-to-tray action. For example, you can override the default behavior of any window's standard Minimize button and use it for the alternative minimization. Also you can hide windows in the tray automatically upon their startup or deactivation.
