Account Xpress is a personal finance management app with plenty of features. But you can easily start with the basics and incorporate new tasks as you learn more about the software.

Pros

Feature set: Account Xpress offers numerous ways to track and manage finances. We were impressed by the options in tasks such as Budget that allow two methods for tracking and managing these numbers.

Help file: Account Xpress' interface is professional-looking, but there are quite a few options presented in a small window. The app's extensive Help file is the best place to begin. Not only does it explain the features, it helps you understand important information about the software and its money-management goals, as well as why each of the features can help you get a better picture of your overall finances.

Cons

Interface: Account Xpress has a small window with a lot of options on offer. Even if you've worked with a personal finance manager before, you'll still need to spend some time in the Help file to understand the best way to use its features.

Bottom Line

If you need a comprehensive tool to help you manage and track your money, Account Xpress has much to offer. Don't be put off by the somewhat daunting interface, as the excellent Help file will answer most, if not all, of your questions.

A good program for personal finance

Pros
Account Express mostly fits the bill. It was relatively easy to import QIF files from Quicken for each account separately. Quicken did not export QXF or QFX files in a way Account Express could import. Setting up monthly income/payments was pretty easy. My Account Express program balances now jives with external sources like bank. I suspect there may be fewer duplicate entries when using QFX rather than QIF but not sure. Just be alert the first few times you import MANUALLY since that is the only option. Not automatic. My personal goal was to stop using Quicken and this program will do that.
Cons
The program does not automatically mark items cleared when you do a download from the bank and sometimes it will duplicate an entry if I have the payee different from the bank. When doing transfers from bank account to credit card account the names only show up in Memo Column rather than Payee Column. The Memo Column is harder to find a transaction than when a name is in the Payee column. I found a work/around for that. Wish I could change the order of columns and eliminate some of the items in the menus I don't use. So far haven't found a way to do that.
Summary
You get 30 days to play with the program in an unrestricted way, so give it a test run.

I've been working with ACX more than 10 years now. It's reliable, fairly easy to use and does the job. Allows you to monitor your income and expenses and track transaction based on account, budget category and payee. Useful report and graph system Multi-currency and easy to access file system
Cons
Well, it's a bit obsolete... Somebody forgot to bring it into the 21st century Can't connect it to an online account (all new data has to be fed in manually though it does has automatic transaction creation) , can't download transactions automatically, doesn't have a cellular app... in other words - it doesn't walk with you. Another small glitch is the fact that you can't put several payees in an advanced transaction, meaning some of your payee data will not be fed.
Summary
If you're looking for personal finance program that does the work - ACX is a very good choice. If you're looking for a little bit extra - transaction download, online access or cellular app - look somewhere else.

I installedthis program understanding that it wasn't quicken. However, I couldn't get my quicken file to be accepted by software. I tried searching help files to find a solution, but nothing seem to help. Even tried file in CSV format and still wouldn't work properly. In the end, the extra work wasn't worth the effort, especially since I can purchase a cheap version of last years Quicken and avoid this problem entirely.
No automatic download from banks

Cons
No automatic downloading of transactions from banks and credit cards. You must manually open a browser, go to each account, login, fill out the banks download form, download a OFX or QIF file, then individually Import those files into Account Xpress.

In rating Account Xpress 3.3.5 I would rate it 5 Star Plus. I used another Accounting Program for about 25/30 years. I decided to to see if something was better. I looked over those on "CNet" and tried about 5 personal accounting programs including Quicken's . Some were very good but did not meet what I needed in the ease of entering my material and getting the reports I wanted. Others were of no use to me and that included Quicken's program. Account Xpress was every thing I was looking for. Entering my information is very easy and the reports are excellent and well laid out The quality of this program is more than excellent. Of course I have had questions regarding the set-up of the program and how to use it. Answers were received in a day or two, which to me was great. Also when getting the answers, it was always mentioned, "Any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us". This of course is very important. I cannot speak highly enough regarding Account Xpress 3.3.5 as an excellent Personal accounting program.I Larry Warner

Pros
If you don't need check printing a la Quicken (who uses checks that much anymore?) this is the best program I've found for personal finance and budget tracking. I've used it for years and I'm convinced it is far better than many other programs that get a lot more exposure.

It covers all the requirements I need in an accounting program. Information is very quick and easy to enter. Regular transactions require only one click. The budget feature is invaluable for someone who has to watch their pennies. Splitting transactions is also a very good feature. A good buy
