It looks like a real program with options offered several different ways in the task bar, right clicking etc. Great but now how do I create a zip file out of and .exe or a .doc???

Now that I want to Zip a little office document, I find the program frustrates every attempt to do this, the help content is just not there even thought the headings are in order and it seems like all it can do is OPEN a huge range of archive files. I thought Creat New Archive would start the process..No. Maybe "Open". No! Where is this simple little function hidden. I am sure it is there hidden in the jargon and detail but after 4 hours I can't find it. I am used to a learning curve, so I read the help. Maybe I wil try the forums

Please fix this. Putting basic content, each step outlined in the help as to how to take a .doc and turn it into a .zip. then i will be happy to recommend your product.

I installed Pea Zip 64 bit from this site. I opened it. I found the Go to Archiving Layout, found the file, clicked go and BAM, I had a zip file in less than a minute of first use of the program. Maybe Zip Genius was malfunctioning on me, I don't know but that is what i found. Wish you well ZG, hope you can fix this.

My needs are pretty basic. So far this app has worked well.

I prefer if each zipped file was password protected when I open them. Instead, the archive is password protected - once open all files are available.

To password protect each file indivdually requires another system entirely. Each file is managed like a partition and could be relative to compression technology, but essentially the project specializes in compression. Although, the encryption functionality of the zip files could be extended to each individual file it would thus become an entire system that would need additional management. There are awesome file encryption tools out there that specialize in this field; additionally you could do a feature request at the Winizio site using support or a similar user group forum.
It is a good idea and reasonable request so you should look into following up on the notion appropriately. Take care and best to you.

I loved Zip Genius for years, using it without incident on an XP system. When I bought a new laptop running Windows 7 x 64 I installed many of my favorite programs, and many of them ran without a hitch. Zip Genius itself seemed to run fine, other than not being able to get it to fully close the original tab if I opened more than one archive.
Then I began having weird crashes of Windows explorer, seemingly random, when I would right-click on files or folders. Strangely, I could click on other files or folders and not get a crash, but it began to be clear that certain folders would invariably cause the crash - though for no apparent reason.
So began the process of uninstalling & re-installing various programs, and lo and behold, once Zip Genius was gone, so was the crashing problem.
Alas, I am back to searching for a good archive program. I will miss Zip Genius, but not as much as I missed a reliable context menu.
