Editors’ Review
Most utilities that open ZIP files also create them. This pared-down tool has only one function: opening ZIP files. Its limited functionality may also limit its appeal, but for users interested only in opening these archived files, this utility may be something you'll want to add to your toolbox.
Zip Pro has one of the plainest interfaces you'll find on a decompression utility: essentially, it's one small pane with a menu bar. It doesn't offer any bells and whistles, but it performed well in our tests. Once we selected a ZIP file to open, it did so quickly. It also allowed us to add files and folders to existing archives, but not to create them from scratch. Adding a password also was easy to accomplish.
It's small, it's simple, and it focuses only on one primary task-- opening ZIP files--and this free utility does it well. Any user interested in such a tool will be satisfied with Zip Pro's performance. However, any user wanting a more robust archiving utility would be well served to look elsewhere.
