Registry Optimizer Free scans your Windows Registry for correctable issues such as leftovers from uninstalled problems, broken links, and potential security threats. Unfortunately, to fix the problems it identifies, you must buy a premium version, Registry Optimizer Pro. Freeware that checks, repairs, and optimizes your Registry isn't difficult to find, and premium tools you can try before you buy are out there, too. But here you have to pay for the upgraded program to see what Registry Optimizer does.
We downloaded and installed Registry Optimizer Free, which started scanning our system as soon as the program finished installing. A bad start: We dislike programs that scan first without asking almost as much as programs that claim to be free but aren't. The scan finished fairly quickly and reported a number of registry errors, junk and private files, and other issues to be addressed. A pop-up asked us if we wanted to fix these problems right away: Hmmm; another familiar tease, and another bad sign. We clicked "Clean" and, as expected, a pop-up appeared informing us that Registry Optimizer Free only fixes the first three of the dozens of "issues" it warns about; and did we want to buy Registry Optimizer Pro to do the job we thought Registry Optimizer Free did? We did not.
Of course, you're free to try Registry Optimizer Free, run its scan, and ponder its results. But before you do, why not try similar tools that actually work and are actually free, like CCleaner? We've had good experiences with Advanced Uninstaller Pro, which despite the name is free. Glary Utilities is another favorite. Whatever tool you choose, you should always tread carefully in the Registry!
