  I must say that PDF index generator is one of the best software I ever used for my books and hope the software keeps getting updated

  My only problem so far was trying to add a header word. I got prompt customer support, though.

  Pros

  Can randomly assemble words in a manuscript.

  Cons

  Generated a random list of words. The headers and subheaders features did not work. Many items on my list were listed as not in the book. I contacted support and got snark. Feigned incredulity over my issues with the software, which I _paid_ for because I am under deadline pressure.

  Summary

  They did not help. This may help people assembling indexes for short and simple books, but the program is stiff and unresponsive and unintuitive. I have done two indexes for scholarly books by myself. I needed a help section on the purchased software for trouble shooting. Instead, I had to email so-called support and got snark and then silence. I am on a deadline. I will work for the next four days without sleep because I was foolish enough to think that this product was as advertised. Maybe a book for kids, or the Chamber of Commerce guide to the glories of their hometown. Scholars beware--this will drain your checkbook, waste your time and cost you money. I am referring to the licensed version, what a ripoff.

  I have to say that what encouraged me to try the software is the positive reviews. I agree with those reviews. The software saved me time. It is user-friendly and very practical.

  Pros

  Overall, a user-friendly programme that saved me a lot of time and money - publisher would have charged over £300, and doing it by hand would have taken weeks. Will use numerous times in the future.

  Pros

  It creates a nicely organized index. And I really like working in the "table" to create head and sub-heads. That's the best part. The program allowed me to create an index for my book when I was on a tight deadline and had never made an index before.

  Cons

  It needs to support microsoft document books and chm books.

  I have tried version 1.4. It is very fast, and the writing templates are nice. I have faced some problems, but the support team were helpful.
