Intel(R) 537EP Modem: The Intel 537EP chipset family is a host-based V.92 PCI modem solution and consists of the 537EPU and 537EPG chipsets. The 537EP chipsets utilize the host PC's CPU to perform the signal processing algorithms and functions that are traditionally done by dedicated DSP and controller hardware. This reduces the number of components and the board space required, which reduces the overall Bill of Material (BOM) compared to controller-less and the controller-based modems.
