  Pros

  It converted a very bad audio quality .avi video into a clearer .mp4 video.

  Cons

  Installed another desktop shortcut for the companies other software to download if I wanted any of them. Tried to uninstall and the original program wouldn't work so had to reinstall.

  Summary

  This did the job of what I needed it to do with good results. I haven't tried any other conversions and can only comment on the .avi to .mp4 conversion.

  I use something more sophisticated in my daily routine, but I'm not putting this down. This is terrific for the casual user, you won't be pulling you hair out, like I do when I try to teach someone to use my tools. five stars out of five.

  Pros

  -It converted .asf, .mov, wmv, .mpg, mpeg, and divx to mp4. I tried several converters before this one, and this one got them all. -It allowed me to add by folder instead of one at a time. I had many clips to convert and doing them one at a time would have taken forever.

  -Tried to change browser settings -Installed malware 'protection'

  Summary

  I got my old movie clips converted to mp4 for free. For free. 5 stars. I won't complain about the inconvenience of malware.

  It converts Flv to MP4 nicely.

  Cons

  It tries to install Crapware in both the CNET installer and the main install. You have to uncheck agree boxes and/or click decline buttons (which are greyed out). Pick 'custom install' as Advance means viruses. The software then also says you need to update graphics card driver, ignore that. Still, I can't say for 100% whether the app does not track user internet use like everything these. days.

  Summary

  Works but Read everything to avoid virus, and this review will probably get deleted eventually because CNET does like you telling people how to avoid the crapware. Hi moderator, special place in hell reserved just for you.

  None, it does not convert video in the free version.

  Cons

  It does not convert Video in the free version. I have no problem paying for a product, but this one clearly said, "I'm free" and " I convert video". It did not say, "Oh, buy the way if you pay extra for me, I will actually convert video, but until then, all I will do is capture your audio and save it to the file. B-S.

  Summary

  It does not do what it says for free. It is misleading. (Period) I am so sick of advertising these days. It's all lies, nothing but BS Lies.

• Rife with malware

  Unknown - could not even locate the actual program among all the junk it installed.

  Cons

  Installs at least half a dozen malware/junk programs and hijacks your default browser home page and search engines, EVEN IF you deselect all additional options during installation.

  Summary

  Download.com should vet software it hosts and absolutely should remove any programs as plagued with malware as this is. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever something like this should be on Download.com, and it significantly hurts the site's reputation as a whole.

  Its infected with Malware & Viruses NEVER again will I download from CNET, its infected all my browsers, search engines, addin helpers, downloads programs in the background, DONT DO IT, it says NOTHING during the install.

  Does install some form of a video converter, I don't know, I deleted it immediately when I saw all the other stuff that it downloaded.

  Cons

  Downloads all kinds of malware and adware that will infect your registry with the conduit adware. This adware hijacks your browser to constantly send you to the adware's homepage. Took me about an hour to delete all the additions it made to my registry and start up files and I had to completely uninstall my firefox browser.

  Summary

  This product is a virus.

  Unbelivably this program comes bundled with the Delta Search (Thinks it's a search engine) Virus. They have didnt even bother give you a notification with this one, they just dl it to your machine. I should have read the comments, but I stupidly was trusting CNET, but have discovered if you follow their malware advice it leads you to a dead end, for as you can see you CANNOT contact them on this website! So this file will stay here infecting all that download it! It's gonna take me a while to remove this now, and these guys are developing it as this version is not detected by my AVG or MWBAM so I dont even know how well that will be!! Goodbye CNET!
