  Software is fast and efficient

  Cons

  It blocks all booking engine generated docx files which I scanned with AVG and found virus free. Contacted technical support and no replies at all. I am paying license fee around USD$150/year.

  Summary

  While F-Prot is an ok product, it's best that you run it alongside another product, such as malwarebytes. In my experience in virus removal and research, the pair work very well together

  + Uses very little memory + Automatic Updates + Built-in Heuristics Testing (Patented) + Will detect viruses and clean them; even in Trial. + Not Bloatware + License covers 5 computers; trial is free and works exactly like the licensed version.

  + Not Free like AVG

  Summary

  This is the best damned anti-virus software ever created. It's the first that looks for "Virus-Like" code; which they patented. This means it will detect and attempt to clean viruses that haven't been discovered yet. Norton wishes they had the patents to this. It's surprisingly light-weight. Even the real-time Scanner doesn't bog your computer down like McAfee, and Norton do. It's also very reasonably priced, won several awards for detecting all known viruses. The thing is that few people have heard of it because it's actually developed in Iceland. I've been using this software since the days I ran a Dos-based BBS. It always is able to detect the viruses, and most of the time, cleans them. For Malware, I use "SpyBot Search and Destroy" Together, these two programs will meet your needs. So, give it a try. The trial version isn't crippled, and they won't spam you.

  doesn't seem to detect any viruses or mal-ware. It lets everything pass through.

  Summary

  You are better of having no anti-virus instead of this junk! Why? Because it gives you false security! I'm a computer technician, I have been getting computers that are soaked with viruses and malware, those computers had F-Prot. F-Prot did not detect anything while other Anti-Virus softwares detected hundreds of threats.

• Non invasive Anti Virus

  Pros

  A computer Geek told me about F-Prot some years go. So I bought it and have used F-Prot for several years now, after growing tired of other anti-virus programs that tried to take over my computer. F-Prot sits quietly in the background and monitors everything, but you never see it! It often updates itself, and checks everything, flagging a few email viruses once in a while. I have found this software to be all I need, and only what I need.

  Cons

  Some say that this software doesn't catch the Trojans. I have used it for four years now, and once a year I run Sbybot to see what it has missed. Spybot usually finds one or two small things that F-Prot didn't find and deal with over the course of a year. So I am not too worried.

  Summary

  If you have a large family or lots of friends, buy the corporate version, and load it on all of your computers! After using all of the other major brands of anti-virus software over the last 20 years I have finally found the anti-software of my dreams. Load it, and leave it. Then get on with life! I took back control of my computer with F-Prot! I cannot say enough to praise them.

  Relies heavily on Signatures No heuristic/behavioral engine

  Summary

  Versus zero day malware testing it performed poorly. Detecting 3/32. Two of those was detected during full scanning. They said it has a heuristic engine but I never was notified by the AV or prompted to block or allow anything. Needs to improve dramatically in this area if it does has one. BOTTOMLINE: Try something else if you're considering on buying an AV.

  Pros

  Their business 10-computers-for-$50 license cannot be beat. We have used their product on all our office computers for a number of years.

  Cons

  Perhaps not as user friendly an interface as other products but it is unobtrusive and uses little computer resources.

  Summary

  I had f-prot on my computer but decided to switch to Gdata after finding out that I'd had a virus on the machine that fprot wasn't doing anything about. (Gdata found it and repaired the file, btw). Then I tried to uninstall, which turn out to be just about impossible. There's no uninstall feature, windows can't get rid of it, and I have to be messing with registry files to get rid of this awful thing. I've tried it, my computer nerd friend has tried it, but the darn thing just won't go away! I also found it hard to exclude files and folders from scans, and for some reason I've been getting more false positives on with f-prot than Gdata, which I've been using at the same time on another machine.
