• Best at recurring events and network use

  Our firm has an unsual monthly meeting date: the first workday of the month (NOT necessarily the first day or the first Monday). Client Tracks is the only program I know of that will schedule this item as a recurring event (so that I don't have to do it every month). I would say that its recurring event scheduling, though not designed for dummies, is certainly more flexible than that offered by other calendars on the market. That statement is also true of the rest of the program as well. Client Tracks has a non-playful, all-business appearance that makes it obvious that it was designed for professional use; it's decidedly different. Its project (client) database doesn't allow for 5 e-mail addresses and 10 fax numbers per client, but it does hold most of the information that most of us want to keep about our clients (including several "custom" fields that can be titled as we wish, and a huge "notes" field). Finding information in the program is done through a screen that allows you to set various search criteria, and it's VERY powerful. Finally, it's handy to be able to sit at any computer in the office and see what any employee has entered into the system. This program is almost one of a kind.

  I think that Client Tracks has the most useful calendar on the market. It can handle just about any scheduling task imaginable. How the designers managed to pack this much utility into such a small package (1.4MB downloaded) is beyond me, but other software houses ought to take notice that we users are tired of filling our hard disks with extraneous files. The program has a clean appearance and a simple means to accomplish most tasks (even reducing some to a single keystroke). We use it on our LAN to great effect, and we are impressed with its ability to display a calendar for any combination of people in this office. Client Tracks has really grown on us.

  Client Tracks holds information about all our clients. Each client screen has several fields that we have titled ourselves. It also has a "Notes" field that can contain a huge amount of free text. The program provides a powerful method of searching through the client database for just the clients you're looking for. One search critereon is word or phrase matching, which we find very useful. Client Tracks' calendar is also first rate. The whole program has an appearance that is thankfully laid-back. Instead of drawing attention to itself, it just does its job of accepting data and presenting it in a thorough and simple manner.

  Pros

  I heard about Client Tracks from an internet "friend", and so I checked it out. My first impression was that the program was a bit simplistic. But it turns out that that's because its main screen doesn't scream "I can do it all" at you by filling itself with all kinds of icons and text. Client Tracks just goes about its business without drawing attention to itself. It turns out that the program has the most complete calendar I've yet encountered, and its ability to sort through my clients in any number of ways is a extremely useful.
