D., who has a doctorate in Reading and over 20 years of experience working with struggling readers. Many of these students struggle with word recognition--which is a major cause of fluency and comprehension difficulties.This is the 7th level in the series: "The 8 Great Word Patterns". To begin using these word pattern apps, students should take the 8 Great Word Patterns Diagnostic (a free app) to give an estimate of what level app they should use. The leveled apps provide practice building words from their sounds. The students trace each word and write the word without seeing it to solidify their understanding. The practice uses progressively harder word patterns.
