Publisher's Description
From Manfred Schwind:
iVolume ensures that all your songs play at the same volume level. iVolume calculates the volume perceived by the human ear for each song of your iTunes music collection. Thereby iVolume gets the most out of the approved Replay Gain algorithm and adjusts your songs accordingly. iVolume integrates seamlessly with iTunes on Mac and PC, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, FrontRow and AirTunes.
Most popular audio file formats like MP3, AAC, AIFF and Apple Lossless are supported. iVolume takes advantage of newest technologies to fully utilize every core of modern multiprocessor machines for optimal performance. iVolume remembers all results ever calculated. Apply changed adjustment settings without the need to re-analyze. By using a sophisticated album detection algorithm iVolume optionally adjusts albums as a whole to keep the intention of the artist.
What's new in this version: Version 3.6.5 fixed slow checking caused by FileVault 2 and Time Machine and added Spanish translation.

"Does not work and developer does not respond to emails"
Version: iVolume 3.6
Pros
None. Doesn't work.
Cons
tried extensively and it just does not work, I keep having to adjust volume levels of well known songs, for example having to turn up Elton john's album captain fantastic and the brown dirt cowboy for any of it's songs. I have tried contacting the developer to see if he can help or I can help him improve the software, but no response. Avoid

"Outrageously priced -- not worth the money"
Version: iVolume 3.5
Pros
The only pro to iVolume over simple MP3 Gain (or its AAC plugin) is that it can normalize Apple Lossless files, which MP3 Gain's AAC plugin cannot. So, yes, it works well.
Cons
It's outrageously expensive. $29.99? Really? And each new upgrade COSTS you? Most stuff like this online comes with free upgrades for life. Surely someone out there will come up with some freeware that does the same thing...
Summary
I did try the demo version, and while I found it to work well, I felt the price was at least 1/3 higher than it was worth.

"Outrageous Arrogance - borderline scam"
Version: iVolume 3.5
Pros
iVolume works as promoted. Nice clean interface.
Cons
Who does this guy think he is. Upon purchase, he adds an additional utility (plus additional $$$), and then adds still another (required) charge of $5 as "insurance" in case you lose your registration code. What smarmy hubris. No sale.
Summary
I wouldn't send this arrogant oaf a single $.

"This is definitely NAGWARE"
Version: iVolume 3.5
Pros
It seems to work okay. Uses the ReplayGain feature found in many other, free software packages. The advantage is that this program uses a script to update the iTunes program at the same time.
Cons
This program seems to work okay but the NagWare feature it has is HORRIBLE. It pops up a screen every 10 songs or so with a 15-20 second countdown timer. Apparently, the programmer is demanding $30 for the software.
Summary
Is it a cool feature to update iTunes in real time? Certainly. Does this program do anything else special, not really. There are PLENTY of free gain adjusting programs, I've used many of them. Foobar being my favorite and it's free. Is this program worth $30? Not to me. Maybe $10 but when you figure that the actual ReplayGain feature is someone else's work, it's hard to understand how this became a $30 program. As for the NagWare feature, it's so 90s. Might as well be CrippleWare it is so annoying. If you add up the 20 seconds you get the feeling you are just wasting your time using the program as it is. So unless you are going to register it, it's probably not worth your time. The alternatives are much quicker in the long run.

"Just perfect!"
Version: iVolume 3.1.3
Pros
I'm using iVolume for years now and it's simply the best volume adjustment solution out there. Version 3 is amazing with it's ease of use and beatiful user interface and it's lightning fast by using all available processor cores at once.
Cons
No cons. Perfect.
Summary
A must-have when listening to music, e.g. on parties, or with an iPod or iPhone.
