Publisher's Description
From CoGen Media (Canada):
Avoid expensive and time consuming hardware upgrades. eBoostr allows you to get more performance from your computer by using the resources it has more efficiently. Using USB flash memory to create a buffer, eBoostr pre-caches the data from the applications of your choice. This reduces the load times of these applications and can even be used to speed up the boot time of your computer! eBoostr gives you the benefits of more RAM without the inconvenience.
eBoostr supports the use of up to 4 USB devices simultaneously. Improving computer speed is as easy plugging in another USB key. eBoostr allows up to 4GB per device to be used in the creation of a memory buffer, giving you as much of a performance boost as you need.
What's new in this version: Version 4 is a major update with complete new features and improved performance.
- Version 4 features a fully automatic configuration wizard which will automatically detect and test all your available devices, and calculate the recommended configuration for maximum performance boost.
- Improved Windows 7 support comes with smoother cache location and automatic handling of dual-boot or multi-boot configurations.
- You can now create cache in unmanaged memory (above ~3.25GB... See all new features

"Saved my Acer Iconia W500 Tablet!"
Version: eBoostr 4.0 build 554
Pros
Improved Dragon Naturally Speaking on my Acer Tablet.
Cons
Doesn't come with an RPM gauge.
Summary
I would not be using my tablet if it was not for this software. For the noobs that use USB drives, what do you expect? The slow USB drives have to be upgraded. I use a class 6 SDHC card but will go to class 10 ultra or the new UHS extreme cards.

"6 STARS - Wow! What an improvement!"
Version: eBoostr 4.0 build 554
Pros
-Simple to install
-Worked for me instantly after reboot (see summary)
-Couldn't max it out with all my heavy apps
-No more 'program not responding' and 'terminated unexpectedly' errors
-No more N360 'high disk usage' warnings
-No more heavy app closing lags
-When memory should have been max'd, managed between apps much better w/o errors or crashing
-Only app I've seen, ever, that does what it claims to do with speeding up system through managing ram and write disks
-Recognized my $15 45/mbs SDHC card (ReadyBoost did not)Cons
-Haven't really found one yet; yes it doesn't improve boot time, but I did not see anything claiming such and I really didn't expect it to since it has to load just like everything else, but did notice some improvement once you log on - did not take doc icons or sys tray icons to load near as long
Summary
Been pulling my hair out with my HP dv9500t laptop running Vista 32, max'd out ram at 4GB and was considering an expensive SSD harddrive(s) upgrade. My CPU specs are not min, but also not max. Not one 'fast PC' software took care of any problems as most are just virus and registry cleanup programs.
Since it does not have a lot of options, only an idiot couldn't see that you can add any app to the acceleration list and not have to 'wait' for the program to learn your usage. So after reboot (do some of these reviewers also cry when win update makes them reboot?) I tested it out running several heavy resource usage apps...
-Auto Cad 2009 with a complicated plan
-5 Adobe programs from Master Collection 3 with highly intensive graphic files
- Quick Books & Quicken
- 2 PDF viewers loading 8MB+ PDFs
-2 web pages, in Chrome & IE
-Windows Media playing music
-Picture Project by Nikon, which was having mem issues, now runs fine
-Outlook 2007, 4 other MS Office apps (Outlook would virtually stop all other programs from running until it's IMAP syncing was complete)
-dual monitors
-Norton 360 & Norton Utilities 15 (360 background backup would bring my system to a crawl, but no longer)
-2 font utility apps that used to load visuals of fonts reeeaaal slow, now working fine
- & Turbo Tax
Just running 3-5 of my heaviest apps would bring my system to a crawl if not freezing it completely.
Needless to say I was squinting in anticipation of a real bad mem crash/lockup, but to my surprise I was able to switch between all apps without issue. Of course there were a few micro-seconds of delay, but no app crashed or hung! And I am using the trial version...
By logic if I had a robust CPU setup I wouldn't really expect much of an improvement. But then why would I need a mem app? -
"only increased my system from 9.6 to 9.7"

Summary
To me it was not worth the effort or expense

"works better than a ssd drive."
Version: eBoostr 4.0 build 554
Pros
Works great with 2 sata raptors in raid o and system memory cache. Cache enabled acess speed 750 mb per second. Ratio 25.08. Very Fast!
Cons
Would be great if eboostr cached files only when idle or manual caching only.
Summary
Very practical and is grat for older computers as wll as new.

"Works Great with time and the right Memory Stick"
Version: eBoostr 4.0 build 554
Pros
Better than Readyboost. Version four does speed up machines, even higher spec machines with plenty of memory. Gains are higher on slower hardware especially machines with less memory or slow hard drives.
Cons
Cost for software and fast memory card may make this uneconomic. Gains are limited on higher end machines. Takes time to learn the most frequently used applications so gains are not immediate. Manual configuration of the product is required.
Summary
I've seen a lot of reviews for Eboostr indicating that it does not work. Surprisingly people often review it without actually trying the product. Eboostr does improve performance significantly over time so patience is required if you want to see a benefit. It took about a week using my laptop an hour a day before eboostr really showed its abilities. The laptop I'm running on has 4GB RAM but the hard drive performance is a little slow. Eboostr has made the machine feel more responsive.
You need a decent speed memory card or USB stick to get the benefits which when adding the price of the software may make it more economic for you to add more memory to your machine or upgrade the hard drive.
Eboostr requires a certain amount of manual tinkering to maximise the performance gains. This is done by excluding certain folders or file types. It seems logical to me that some of these optimisations should be included by default.
My advice is to actually try the product. It worked very well for me. -
"An excellent program - if you use it correctly!!"
Version: eBoostr 4.0 build 554
Pros
If configured properly this program will do exactly what it is supposed to do, and make a very impressive improvement in your machine's performance. It's working great on six machines!
Cons
It's not magical, and requires deliberate consideration and implementation. Like Readyboost, it's a stopgap measure for the drive bottlenecks that have become the limiting factor for most of us. When SSD's become ubiquitous, it will be obsolete.
Summary
Do not expect this product to make your computer behave as if it's running with a solid-state drive. If you actually have a solid-state drive, then you don't need this product...as the basic idea behind it is to gain for those of us unwilling to shell out hundreds of dollars on early-generation, high $$ per GB SSDs some of the same benefits. It is unlikely to speed your startup times, and in fact when you *first* launch any individual program after startup (e.g. Internet Explorer, OpenOffice) it may seem to take a few seconds longer than usual to initiate, as eBoostr moves files from your hard drive into your cache device(s) -- but after that is when you see the (sometimes simply amazing) benefits. Additional instances/tabs of IE or Firefox appear almost instantly. If you close one of these programs and reopen it later in the same windows session, it will just...appear, with no perceptible lag. If you locate critical system programs/services which are always running (for example, Windows Explorer) and configure eBoostr to cache them, you'll find that Windows itself is much more snappy and responsive. Overall, for me it has been very worth the money.

"Easy, install and forget!!! READ THIS BEFORE POST"
Version: eBoostr 4.0 build 554
Pros
Make great improve perfomance of most used programs, faster change between running programs without buying more RAM to you pc.
If you dont want to buy more RAM to your PC this is an option.
Clean uninstall.Cons
Not boosted the win start and close win, indeed takes about 20 segs more
Request that you have a fast pendrive hopefully enhanced for high speed read and offcourse usb 2.0 or later
Its a trial program.Summary
First at all, you should read how the programs work to understand that its not a magic program, i mean you have to put what to boost if not will take severals days of normal work to auto set up. And offcourse if you put a pendrive with less than 15 Mb/s its worthless and obviusly with usb 2.0 or higher!!! Well, first you have to add the memory selected (pendrive or free mem of RAM, the most faster) and add the ammount of mem to asign, then you have to drag the programs that you want to be boosted (the first time that you run the selected programs isnt be boosted becouse load and save the data to the mem) but you will notice that with several programs at the same time switch between them faster and when you run it again then youll see how fast it is. Just for tell you Firefox 3.6.3 (with 8 add ons; 4 personas) with boost take 14 segs to be ready and with boost takes only 5 segs, nod32 run faster (not in the scan) to open the program just 1 seg boosted, and Comodo firewall not slow any more my pc, internet explorer takes 2 seg. My pendrive its a kingstone mini slim 10Mb/s write and 20 Mb/s read of 4 Gb with 18Mb/s of acces speed.
So now you know what you need to work, now you can take your option.
I hope i was clear with the info and help you to make a good test.

"Totally useless"
Version: eBoostr 4.0 build 554
Pros
none found
Cons
Speed improvement is next to nothing.
I configured eBoostr to use a fast thumbdrive (~30mb/sec random read) and built the cache, and it shown 3% speed improvement when I measured some heavy apps launch speed.Summary
Don't bother, it's not worth it

"Worked like a charm"
Version: eBoostr 4.0 build 554
Pros
Right after caching the USB stick and RAM, it started working. Im running Windows Vista and everything just seemed to load noticeably faster and crispier. My hard drive seems to load quicker as well. All in all, I like it so far.
Cons
requires a reboot after installation
-
"Acts like its doing something but actually does nothing"
Version: eBoostr 4.0 build 554
Pros
At least looks like its doing something
Actually puts some data on your usb stick to pretend it has done somethingCons
No performance improvement
Having it run on startup actually decreased performance a littleSummary
I downloaded this program thinking it would maybe give me better application launch time or boot time, but i installed it, plugged in my usb drive, let it "build cache" for all my selected apps, then rebooted.
there was no performance improvement and If im not mistaken, the application runs on startup, actually DECREASING boot time.
I thought maybe it would improve application launch time or SOMETHING, but there was no difference, none at all.
