"ZorinOS (x64) does quite well for Windows Immigrants"

The ZorinOS folks have spent a lot of effort to make the Ubuntu Linux platform more user friendly for folks wanting to migrate away from windows. The desktop interface looks familiar with additional features to make Windows folk feel at home, and if you really want it, a tablet style interface is available.

There are several ways to use windows programs under Zorin: WINE, an interface layer that tries to provide translations from win32 to Linux; PlayOnLinux, an slightly different way to emulate windows; and VirtualBox, a completely virtual machine system that actually lets you install a full Windows OS in a virtualized environment that can be made to appear seamlessly with the Linux desktop.

One can mix and match any, none, or all of these methods to make your own solution.
All the popular Web Browsers are available: Firefox, Chrome, Opera, (even Internet Explorer via VirtualBox.) And lots of Free/Libre/OpenSource software is available for those interested in really exploring.

There is a learning curve to getting Zorin (or any Linux solution) installed on your PC, and Ububtu tries very hard to hide some of the most powerful parts of Linux from most users. (This can be a pro or a con depending on you point of view.)

VirtualBox is quite easy to install from the Ubuntu repositories, but getting it running properly may take some work to get it running right.

Ububtu and most Linux distributions install a lot of infrastructure stuff that may use lots of disk space, and they make it hard to figure out where the stuff is hiding. But they are inherently more secure than the Windows defaults, and most definitely do not collect and send tons of usage information to some monolithic tracking corporation.

ZorinOS is one of the better Linux migration platforms for advanced Windows users to migrate away from the Microsoft empire. Once you have made the jump, it continues to provide a usable and interesting system. And security updates are usually available within a day or two.

I started with a Zorin-like system quite a few years ago, and I haven't looked back.

"I no longer use MS Windows! I gave them away."

I have no Idea what the issue is about Netflix and others, they all work fine for me! (Try Ie-Explorer in Play on Linux) All my games work fine, sure, some need wine, others "Play on Linux", and some work fine directly installed! I have completely migrated now, and for those tricky programs, I just installed windows (any version you need,) via-Virtualbox, and installed those beggers, and they work fine! Pro's NO NEED TO REBOOT after every install! I LOVE IT!

Havent found one yet. (6 months now, and still no CRASH!)

I don't have to upgrade every program with thousands of dollars thrown away, I can even use all my programs that did not work in the newest windows, (Virtualbox, Dosbox, Wine, and others are available!) Danm glad to be rid of spending my hard earned money on every upgrade!

Zorin is fast loads fast and shuts down fast, has features I wish Windows 7 had. Like closing a program and its is actually closed no more going to remove from list on the start menu.

the only cons with Zorin a Linux system.....Is the lack of support from certain company websites like the BBC, Adobe Air, Netflix, etc. Zorin is a GREAT OS that I can only say is being Snubbed. It was a bit difficult to figure out how to install it, follow the instructions download rhen run burn to disc, then restart with disc inside hit F12 while restarting the install menu will appear chose your options.

great os. worth paying for but even better that it is free. Windows has a nemesis here.
