  Pros

  1. Simple to use. 2. All the features to build a professional website. 3. Comprehensive forum for user problems. The reply is within a day or even wihin hours sometimes. 4. Would recommend the professional version if you want little more extras like dynamic content etc.

  If you need to import a web site or are developing a site in Website X5 and lose the project file like I did by trying to export the site to preview it with a group, you are out of luck. You cannot even import a simple html file!

  Easy to use in a step by step procedure -- lots and lots of quality templates to use. Can make as many websites as you want, not extra fees.

  Not a true WYSIWYG program. It is a PREVIEW style. You edit then preview, edit them preview, edit them preview. This can be tedious

  I gave it 4 stars for the concept. I have the lower model, Compact 9 and it works flawlessly but does not upload to Secure Websites, which is becoming more popular. SFTP is for Evolution 9 and 10, and a bunch more money. I had problems with Preview, never did get it to work, refund in the works. But, from what I have been able to determine this is only true of very few users, so if that works like it is supposed to this software is, like I said, genius. Not for the purist, however, but for the guy that is not looking to teach Computer science, and with a full working model -- well, like I said, genius.

  easy to use full of choices edit tools are really good And I am reviewing the Compact version not a trial version

  Cons

  There is a Home Version and a Compact version and the Evolution version. The Home and Compact verstions do not support Secure WebHosting uploads, so you have to use a third party FTP software to upload. It does have a built in FTP uploader but is of little use for Secure WebHosting services. You can upgrade to the higher version, Website 5x Evolution version, which is a bummer because myself and others do not need all of the extras with Evolution, Compact is fine but to get Secure uploading you have to upgrade. So save your money, if you need Secure Uploading and jump to Evolution, otherwise you will be like me, $40 poorer and having to spend another $80 to get the SFTP or FTPS (secure uploading).

  Summary

  The first two reviewers seem to have their problems with their own systems. I downloaded Website 5x Compact and a few dollars later and I was up and running. A great design system, almost too easy. I never experienced any of the problems the other two reviewer experienced. I contact support, via forum, and received a response in a timely manner. The lack of Secure FTP uploading really bothers me and it should bother them too as more and more Web Hosting services are moving to SFTP or FTPS for sucure uploading. Bummer, or did I already say that? Bummer anyway.

  If you could get it to install and get any support from the company, this might be a good piece of software. As is, it is a piece all right...a POS.

  This software...and the company...is FUBAR.

  Summary

  Took me dozens of attempts to install on an XP machine. After a new release, it installed. I got an unlock code...this was supposed to make it work. It did not...it then asked for a product code. This must be some f*****g Classified State Secret, because I could never get one. Very minimal support from company--all web based. Now a new release, I cannot retreive any information. I give up. I'll use something else. Probably won't be as good, but it will install. I'll muddle through. I hope this company tanks. They got my money. Don't let them get yours.

  Trial Version Would Not Run Past "Activation" Screen Absolutely NO SUPPORT

  Summary

  Actually? I probably should not be reviewing this product, as after I downloaded it, installed it, it would not let me get past the "Activation" screen. How am I supposed to 'evaluate' whether or not this 'trialware' software program is going to work for me if I cannot get it to work? Repeated attempts at contacting the developers of the program also failed to elicit a response; therefore they fail!

  its very easy to use and simplest for usage. custom templates fast operation strength of well established tutorials

  very buggy this program..if you create more than 40 pages there will be a lot instance where your pictures will be lost..and biggest problem is transferring website .iwp file from old 8 version to version 9..(i tested evolution 8 and 9) also it is very pricy

  if you are creating a simple website with less pages this is the program to buy.evolution 9 is far better than evolution 8.if you do not have that much money no doubt go for free bluevoda website builder.(i must say that i am just a user of bluevoda and have no relation with the company in any other way)

• total rip off failed to send licensing key

  They have no contact email or phone for support. Purchased the full version but they never sent licensing key code. ordered a boxed version but they send German not English Totally screwed on this one from the start

  Complete rip off no email or phone support no way to contact company paid for software but company failed to send a licensing key total rip off<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jun 29, 2011<p/>Full of Bugs, Doesn't display web content correct on web, lacks common web features, email contact forms don't work, drops content FTPed to host. Problems with help and support. Printed manual only in German. Customer Service is a loop that say to contact support that sends you to customer service. If you want to get angry and frustrated get this program. Total waste of time and time is money.

  The user will quickly hit the limits with this freeware product

  Summary

  Anyone building a site will want to use the features available in the purchased product, the freeware is just a "taster". If you like how it works, then purchase the full product. I've been using it for 2 years and I have not yet found anything I couldn't do, but I generally create my own templates.

  Designing the website is very easy and ideal for most applications

  Can not link card payments to SAGEPAY

  Summary

  The techinical back up is non existent if you go to a partener company in the UK they are worse than useless and can not help you nor can they tell you who can. Send a fax to Italy (no email address given) they ignore it. If you are going to create an ecommerce site then check with your card handler if they can link to X5 prior to purchase. Also help@websitex5.com is no longer a valid address. My advice do not purchase X5 as customer support is non existent.
