Compile the VLC Media Player from its tarball source code.

This downloadable tarball includes the full source code for the VLC Media Player. Instructions for compiling the source code can be found on the VideoLAN Organization's VLC Media Player developers page.

Developers and users of VLC Media Player should also be aware of the FTP source code repository at http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/ and the source code for the contributing libraries to VLC at ftp://ftp.videolan.org/pub/videolan/contrib/.
