Publisher's description
From CG Security :TestDisk is a powerful data recovery utility. It was primarily designed to help recover lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again when these symptoms are caused by faulty software, certain types of viruses or human error (such as accidentally erasing your Partition Table). PhotoRec is file data recovery software designed to recover lost pictures or lost files from digital camera memory (CompactFlash, Memory Stick, SecureDigital, SmartMedia, Microdrive, MMC, USB Memory Drives), even Hard Disks and CDRom.
PhotoRec is safe to use, it will never attempt to write to the drive or memory support you are about to recover from. Recovered files are instead written in the directory from where you are running the PhotoRec program. Version 6.3 includes unspecified updates.

Version: TestDisk & PhotoRec (OS X) 6.3
"Perfect at recovering photos from Sony Memory Stick Pro"
Pros: Recovered entire 1GB of photofiles shot over the past year. Incredible!
Cons: Kernel-type interface is DOS-like and somewhat difficult to use but it gets the job done!

Version: TestDisk & PhotoRec (OS X) 6.3
Pros: Recovered all the files I wanted on an accidentally formatted MicroSD card, including movies and mp3s in addition to the photos. Tried using VirtualLab Data Recovery first, but it only found photos & you have to pay to actually recover what it sees.
Cons: Slight learning curve if you're not used to using Darwin, but after carefully reading the online documentation, all my questions were answered.
Summary: PhotoRec found and recovered a whole lot more than VirtualLab, and it's free! I couldn't recommend it more for Mac users who need to recover accidentally deleted files.

Version: TestDisk & PhotoRec (OS X) 6.3
Pros: was able to recover a few files, but it took forever
Cons: Seems like a bad port of a DOS app or something. Questionable free software.
Summary: You get what you pay for IMO.

Version: TestDisk & PhotoRec (OS X) 6.3
"Perfectly restored my deleted partition"
Pros: Powerful software in a small, fast package that works.
Cons: There is no GUI.
Summary: I accidentally removed a partition when installing XP on a new HD. TestDisk very quickly restored the partition perfectly.
