Taskbar Eliminator is a very basic program that allows users to quickly hide and unhide their Taskbar. The program works fine, but it's made to do only one thing, and it's not very intuitive the first time out.
The program's interface is sparse, and even worse, there's no way to know how to access it without reading the publisher's description. We find this a pretty major failing; a program should at least be able to explain for itself how it should be accessed. Instead, the program hid our Taskbar immediately upon extraction, leaving us scrambling for the publisher's description to find out how to control it. It turns out that the program is controlled with simple keyboard shortcuts, which is nice. The program's interface is practically useless, with buttons for hiding and unhiding the Taskbar and allowing users to determine whether they want to the program to start with Windows. That's really all there is to it; there's no Help file or other features or options. Although the program was easy to use and worked just fine once we figured it out, we were really disappointed by how unintuitive it was to start with.
Taskbar Eliminator is free. It comes as a ZIP file and runs after extraction with no need for installation. We recommend this program with reservations; it functions well but lacks features, and is not user-friendly to start.
Publisher's description
From Aviassin :Aviassin Taskbar Eliminator is a great utility which will simply and efficiently remove the taskbar from Windows XP or Vista. With just the click of a button or a hotkey, the taskbar is disabled from any side of the screen, providing the freedom to use any dock application, increase computer security, or allow all sorts of Windows customizations. The taskbar can be toggled on and off in real-time, providing the flexibility to quickly view the taskbar to perform an action. The application interface is simple and easy to understand, allowing it to be used by even the most novice of users. Simply press and hold Control+Alt+T to bring up the Preferences window, from which all options can be adjusted. Press and hold Altl + T to immediately show or hide the taskbar directly. Taskbar Eliminator can easily be set to start with Windows, so your taskbar can be automatically hidden before your computer is even started up.
Version 2.4 now includes direct taskbar toggling with Alt +T to fix browser tab issues and minor bug fixes.

Version: Taskbar Eliminator 2.4
"Close but no cigar for Windows 7"
Pros: Hides the taskbar as long as you don't have an alert.
Cons: It hides the taskbar, until a window alert happens, in Windows 7. Then the Orb drops down, unhidden, while the rest does remain hidden. Unusable for my purposes, then.
Summary: Sadly it doesn't work correctly in Windows 7.
