SpeedBit Video Downloader is an add-on for Internet Explorer that lets users quickly and easily download Flash videos from their favorite Web sites. Although we've seen similar programs with more features, we like that this program is so easy to use.
The program's interface consists of an Internet Explorer toolbar. We liked that it was so accessible and that we didn't have to open a separate program to download a video. The program is incredibly easy to use; we simply navigated to the video we wanted, clicked the Download Video button, and SpeedBit Video Downloader quickly downloaded the video for us. We didn't have a program installed that could play Flash videos, so it offered to download and install the VLC Media Player, which worked just fine. The program doesn't have a Help file per se, but the publisher's Web site does offer basic instructions. As for features, SpeedBit offers some extras, but they're not particularly useful. The best Flash video downloaders we've seen have offered built-in video players and functions that allowed us to convert from Flash into other formats. This program offers none of that, but the toolbar does contain an Ask.com search box, a translation function, and a link to Amazon.com. None of these is bad, but they do seem like pointless browser clutter that we don't necessarily want. Overall, we liked SpeedBit Video Downloader, but we wished that it didn't come with extras that don't enhance its primary function.
SpeedBit Video Downloader is free. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.
