• Cheating Company

  Functionality is good until they decided to cheat more money out of me.

  Cons

  First time I paid for professional license then they deactivated the scheduling functionality and ask me to pay for ultimate license. Paid the ultimate license then after 1 year deactivated my license and the "friendly" customer support ask me to pay again despite my maintenance still valid, after this no more response from them...

  Summary

  Too late for me to stumble upon this review and learned it the hard way. Do not buy from this unscrupulous company!

  Works until you have to download it again.

  Cons

  You buy a "perpetual" license. But as soon as a new version comes out, you can't download the version you PAID for, meaning it is worthless. It was even worse in my situation. I had a minor annoyance (an extra click) that I asked support about. They told me it had been fixed in the new version, NOT TELLING ME THAT I'D HAVE TO PAY AGAIN. With my old version gone, there is no way to download it again. I've moved to FileZilla -- just as good, completely free, open source (no adware, etc) and well-supported.

  Summary

  Just like the other reviewers have said, sleazy business practices imho. Avoid at all costs.

• Rip off - steal your money

  Worked OK until disactivated

  Cons

  It only works for one year then is disactivated, so it basically costs 40 dollars per year! Rip off when you consider there are good free ones out there. I paid to have a more solid application, but thought the license was perpetual and just support would run out, not the application license ran out!

  Summary

  You only get ones years use then need to keep paying annual subscription to use.

  Great software and never had any problems using it, until now.

  Cons

  If your maintenance license expires, never expect to install this software again without paying to extend it. You will be unable to download the previous version from their site and their support will ignore your request pointing you to the buy button again.

  Summary

  Don't bother buying it. You pay for a service, not a product. Sadly this is a big let down considering this software is great otherwise.

  Customer support is basically anti-customer.

  Like pretty much all of the previous comments, to say the customer support is dismissive, would be an understatement. Paid customer: minimum $40 a year bill to stay "subscribed" to having this software work. If you accidentally take an update past your expiration, forget it, they won't provide you with the last working version even when directly asked, whether in their forums or directly through their email customer support. The money you spent is literally ... GONE. No more working FTP client. Asking for support usually ends up in being ignored. I would highly recommend NOBODY PAY for this software, no matter how much you like it. Trust me, you'll end up regretting it at some point later. Really, the BBB should be looking into this place.

  see the hundreds of user reviews going back years (click Reviews: "All Versions" above) complaining about ripping off paid customers with a program that doesn't work after you pay for it. wish I came here and read all the reviews before spending money

  after you pay they'll deactivate you're program, I emailed and asked why it doesn't work and their rude customer support guy says to pay again. WHY would I pay again after i already paid for the program? i emailed my receipts and they're not honoring that i paid for it

  what a rip off, can't believe i wasted $39.95 when there are so many FREE programs out there. and their customer support ruined my day by being so rude

  When they rip you off, they actually do admit to ripping you off because it's in their terms of agreement. That's considerate of them.

  Cons

  You pay $59.95 for a license, but as soon as a new version comes out (which is every few months), it'll auto-update and stop working, and then tell you to pay for a new license to re-activate. Your license if for the "old" version and is no longer valid. Can't seem to turn off auto update.

  Summary

  Rip off!!! Extremely misleading as it says your license is "perpetual".

  easy to use and powerful when it works

  Shocking service. Smart FTP don't seem very interested in honouring their end of the user terms and conditions. They don't recognise a perpetual license as being perpetual, preferring instead to charge you $39 every year for a 'maintenance' contract. Apathetic support/sales staff leave a bad taste in your mouth.
