Security Process Explorer is a freeware replacement for the Windows native Task Manager. It comes with some very useful functions, but the simplistic layout doesn't adapt well when displaying deeper investigations into the relationships between different processes.

It offers many of the same functions that other process-managing programs offer. You can explore the connections between different processes, block processes, end them, and view in-depth information about a particular process. You can even search on the Web for a particular process, but unlike other programs, Security Process Explorer takes you to a proprietary page to learn more.

There's nothing particularly wrong or bad with this app, with the top pane displaying the active processes and the bottom pane showing process information. It's stable, it only eats about 4MB of RAM, and beginning users will appreciate that the information clutter isn't overwhelming. Still, the program feels unfinished, as if an interface that veered toward either slickness or geekiness might serve it better. There's no doubt, though, that you can get what you need from this useful app.

The best,easy,simple and very informative replacement- software of the Windows Task Manager.This gives you the required details of the processes much easier than the Process Explorer software of sysinternals.

Has a safety bar to indicate whether a process is a virus or trojan. It's not clear where it gets this information from though. You can comment each process to remind you what it is. Free.

Apart from the aformentioned bar, there isn't any additional information about processes listed. So if you click on a common process such as scvhost.exe, it gives you "no information", explorer.exe "no information", it hasn't even got basic information.

Power Downloaders comparision of this with Process Explorer cites a difference -- SPE does not provide a google search over a Porcess; I think this is no more an issue. A "Google It" button sits in the tool bar,which when clicked takes you to <p>glaryutilities.com/processlibrary/process/<p>and there you find a Google search link for this process.<p> If a google search over a process is the only hitch that puts you off in picking SPE over Process Explorer; I think now you can safely ignore that concern.

A comprehensive display of everything that is going on in your computer much as Windows Task Manager should do but this program does it better.
