When information comes across your screen that you do not want to forget, a screen capture is in order. While using inaccurate and confusing hot keys was once the preferred method, ScreenHunter Free offers an alternative that promises to simplify the process.
This free program has a simple interface that makes this operation surprisingly easy. The main screen is well spaced and intuitive enough to have new users making screen captures in no time. A menu along the top allows users to make screen captures now or to stand by. Along the left side of the screen are the buttons to toggle between options of where the capture comes from, where it is sent, and more advanced options. The Advanced and Send To options are fairly standard for this type of software, but the Capture From option is quite unique. On this screen, users can select a single hot key to take screen captures, as well as select whether they'd like a full-screen capture, capture a window, or simple a small rectangle (which brings up crosshairs that let you zero in on target).
ScreenHunter Free promises to make getting screen captures easier and we were pleased to find it lived up to this promise. The process is simple, the options are easy to manage, and the results are flawless. We highly recommend this download for all users.

Version: ScreenHunter Free 5.1.145
"Didn't work on my second monitor"
Pros: I guess this would work fine with one monitor.
Cons: I was trying to capture something on my second monitor. It wouldn't work at all. The application ignored the second monitor. I put the app on the second monitor and then it wouldn't really respond at all.
Summary: This is probably just a bug that I found. It would probably work fine for everyone with a single monitor.

Version: ScreenHunter Free 5.1.145
Pros: Intuitive and simple design; very user friendly.
Cons: Maybe it's just me, but when my computer starts up two windows pop up with the program asking me to assign a hotkey. I just fiddled with the settings, so maybe it will stop doing it.

Version: ScreenHunter Free 5.1.145
Pros: Easy to install, easy to use, great results
Cons: Should have different hot keys for different capture scenarios (screen, window, area)
Summary: Great little utility that provides super results. My complaints are very minor and have used this program for a while now on several different systems.

"I'm able to capture pictures quickly and easily"
Pros: I can get any portion of the screen or all of it and can change where the captured pictures are stored. I also like the new way the pictures are named with the date included.
Cons: Would like to be able to capture scenes from movies but I think that comes with the paid for version
Summary: I like the product because when I get really great pictures in emails ffrom friends I can capture them, save them in a special directory and then use them as my desktop. That way I don't get bored with the same old pictures. It works great for me.

Pros: Was using an earlier version but this upgrade is much easier to use with new format.
Cons: Nothing negative to say about this program .
Summary: I use this program to capture screen shots while flying in Microsoft Flight Simulation.
Of course can be used for any screen shot capture so I rate it 5 out of 5 !! - See all 37 user reviews Write review
