• Crappy out of date webcam software on cnet number 92892

  Upon loading, just says "Cannot connect with server" before you can even fully open the program, so must be severely out of date and be obsolete now. Don't waste your time.

  Summary

  Read great things about it, and of course it's just yet another crappy broken out of date program on cnet. I've downloaded 10 webcam streaming programs now in the past five minutes off of cnet, and every one has been out of date, broken, worthless and should be deleted from the site.

  The readme says it needs a server from the authors site. On that page there is only one related link, which doesn't work (and judging from the name, it may be the same file I already downloaded from here), so how can I install the needed server?

  Pros

  This software does exactly what it claims to do. No more, no less. If you're not familiar with advanced setting up web cameras, then this program IS NOT for you. If you know your way around, setting this up will be easy. But you will have little use for this program, there are far better free alternatives.

  Cons

  The software is very basic and doesn't do anything that is actually worth while. The "read me" files as describe by the author in his own review are written in broken English , as a result are hard to understand what the author is saying.

  I created a web page and tried to insert my video stream with many free softwares for many days untill I found this one. Easy to install. It really works and its free. Easy instructions at the saschart web site.

  Pros

  This is a simple webcam server and works well. Just forward port 8080 in your firewall to your pc ip adress and it will work. If you dont know about basic networking and ip addressing then this is not for you. I suggest you go and pay for a piece of software that will hold your hand and spoon feed you into setting up a webcam server. As for you guys giving the developer a hard time give him a break. He is not responsible for your lack of networking/IT skills.
