Editors' Review

RoboForm is far more than a form-filling and password-managing browser add-on; this inexpensive shareware is one of the most useful browser enhancements we've encountered. RoboForm saves and enters log-in data and passwords, as well as your address, contact data, or any form fields you're always entering the hard way in Web sites and Windows programs. It also manages bookmarks, downloads, notes, and much more. RoboForm costs just under $10 with a free 30-day trial.

Everywhere or Desktop: You can install RoboForm to save data only on your main PC, or you can create an online account that lets you use RoboForm with all your computers and devices. In either case, memorize your master password, which can't be recovered.

Extras: RoboForm's extensive list of extras includes a secure Password Generator, SafeNotes, Contacts, Fingerprints, Smart Cards, and many other features and tools.

Options: RoboForm boasts a huge range of options and settings. We could Manage Identities and Profiles, edit Contacts, and Import and Sync data from RoboForm's Windows tray menu or browser settings.

Too much? RoboForm does so much and has so many features and extras that some users might find it overwhelming.

Costs money: RoboForm is inexpensive and delivers excellent value, but it's not free. Much of what it does is also available in freeware; just not in one program.

Bottom line

We're impressed by RoboForm, and so are many others, to judge by the program's reception. It significantly enhances your browser's capabilities and minimizes routine actions. The more time you spend online or at your PC, the more RoboForm can do for you.

"Hasn't kept up with changes in technology"

March 26, 2015  |  By ltlrags

 |  Version: RoboForm

Security/encryption keeps all my passwords/cards safe
Only one password to keep track of
Can see my info on all my devices

Doesn't fill some pop-up, java windows
Can't have different profiles (work, home, etc.)
Incorrectly fills some fields so often that I have to double-check before submitting
Can't manually create a login when RF doesn't recognize a field

When I first bought v7 in 2011 it was the most useful app I had. Over time, it has decreased in usefulness as browser technology has changed. Some login pop-ups aren't recognized, some fields don't use the same standards as RF and aren't filled, some websites use multiple-step logins not supported by RF, etc. It's been 4 years since a major update and they seem on the verge of something new (v7.9.12!), so I'm hopeful that v8 will catch up with new advances on the web.

Still, RF is the most useful app I own, even if it has become more or less a simple "vault" for storing my passwords so that I can look them up when needed.

"Simply brilliant"

February 27, 2015  |  By belfast_des

 |  Version: RoboForm

I've been using Roboform for about 8ish years. Its easy to use (and I've never looked at any of their tutorial videos), its reliable and easily syncs across all my devices.

Doesn't always dock with the absolute latest upgrade on certain browsers but the regular updates usually fix that.

It does exactly what you'd expect it to do without fuss.

"Very Challenging to Use"

February 11, 2015  |  By pmax91

 |  Version: RoboForm

Great concept

Very poor video tutorials. Not easy to understand or use (especially with Chrome). Have someone demonstrate this program before attempting yourself. Once you start you with invest a lot of time. If like me you ultimately feel this program requires an expert understanding of how passwords work, you will spend additional time trying to unwind what you started. BEWARE you must completely understand the entire process before using, This is a great concept, but not easy to use.

I have intermediate knowledge of computer, software, and hardware. I found this program much to complicated. I hope this idea is one day made easy to understand and use.
