This free Firefox extension generates more secure passwords, but we weren't able to access all of its features.

Password Hashers user interface can be found through the Add-ons menu. You can choose your security level, and the length of the password. There's also a checkbox for the default requirements--upper and lowercase letters, one punctuation character, and at least one digit. An extensive tabbed Help menu is available through the Options menu. There's an interesting Portable Page option that lets you create a page to run if the program is unavailable. We weren't able to access the custom options section. Passwords are quickly generated after entering your master password.

This program worked well for the most part, but since we couldn't access the custom options, we can't give it a full recommendation.

Password Hasher automatically generates strong passwords. One master key produces different passwords at many sites. Quickly upgrade passwords by bumping the site tag. Upgrade a master key without updating all sites at once. Supports different length passwords. Supports special requirements, such as digits and punctuation. Supports restricting a hash word to not use special characters.

Saves all data to the browser's secure password database. Generates a portable HTML page with your site tags and option settings that allows you to generate your hash words in any browser on any machine without the extension installed. Can add marker buttons to unmask passwords on any Web site.

What's new in this version: Version 1.1.7 has fixed portable page and the generated portable page is now compatible with older versions of Internet Explorer.
