The ubiquitous PDF is not the answer to everyone's problems. For those who need an image file instead, Office Convert PDF to JPEG offers users a simple way to make this leap.
This freeware program has an interface that is fairly simple to understand. While there are options for removing files and folders, most users are going to be concerned with the big blue button at the center of the program, Add File. This leads you to a simple file tree for finding PDFs. A selected file is listed on a large screen with its file name, location and size. The Convert button is just as prominent as the Add File button, so users won't have to guess what to do next.
Once a file is selected, the process is amazingly simple. Clicking the Convert button asks the user where they want their new JPEG to be stored and then goes right to work. A small chart pops up and monitors progress, which is a little slower than we'd like, but not too painful. When the job is over, the program takes you to your new JPEG.
Users will also find options to convert their PDFs to BMP, GIF, and TIFF files, but not many other alternatives or frills. We welcome this lack of complexity, because Office Convert PDF to JPEG does exactly as it should and makes for a great download.

Pros: i like nothing about this product
Cons: doesn't work...output is blank page. un-install didn't work from control panel - got an error message. had to manually uninstall. corrupted RegCleaner program. after install/manual un-install all my printers were gone, too.
Summary: in detail? it SUCKS. it DOESN'T WORK. it messes with core files. whowever wrote it and whoever recommends it should go to jail.

"Someone should go to jail for calling this "free.""
Pros: It has a nice icon.
Cons: The so-called "free" aspect of this, when converting a pdf file to jpg, produces a barely recognizable image that is unusuable for any purpose in the real world.
Summary: Being flatly misled by this product being called "free" ensures that I will never deal with that company again. I have had numerous good experiences with www.downloads.com. I am disappointed that you would feature a product so misleading.

Pros: It looks like the interface is simple and easy to use. I just wish it actually converted the file!
Cons: Could not get this product to work. It constantly asks you to buy the registered version which I will not do without evidence that it can actually convert a PDF to JPG.
Summary: Don't waste your time. Not sure why CNET rated it so highly.
