Pros
I tried PerfectDisk 12.5, Diskeeper 2012 and I always went back to O&O. My system is way faster with this program, just use for start Space and then Complete/NAME and you PC will be in form :D

I don't know what's better defrag in background or screensaver defrag, i can't find that in help. But for me that's not Cons.

My system was faster with free Defraggler, but No MFT boot defrag. O&O would probably be faster, If I could just set it up properly...!?
Version 16 Is Buggy

Version 16 is buggy.
Summary
Been using version 15. Installed and used version 16 awhile and it is buggy. Version 15 used to automatically analyze disks when program started. Now in v16 you have to manually click Analyze button to analyze each disk, before and after a defrag. When you run a Stealth defrag, after it finishes, it states, for example, 14% degree of fragmentation. But then after you click the Analyze button, after it finishes analyzing the disk, it states 85% degree. Shutdown function after job completion no longer works. External hard drives clusters appear in grey instead of colors (internal hard drives clusters appear correctly in colors) Defragmentation speed is the same as v15 despite developer's claim of a 40% improvement. Reverted back to version 15.

Windows 7 version sweet with perceived improvements in speed and effectiveness over Microsoft defrag.
Cons
Under Windows XP Professional (on PC and laptop)similar improvements not noticeable. On power down, both computers hang waiting for OODTRAY to finish and frequently power off is only achieved by forcing the program to finish, or sometimes holding the power off button in for 5 seconds. This is just unacceptable. Uninstalling is exceptionally difficult with neither the Control Panel nor the manufacturers Uninstall working, aftermarket uninstallers also do not remove it effectively. Manual removal seems to be the only way. Fatal flaw under XP.

Excellent under Windows 7. You'd have to be mad to use it under XP

Pros
Easy to download in the first place!
Cons
Very slow in comparison to some other top quality progs. Not the best interface by any means. Cannot uninstall easily. Just a pain overall.
Summary
It is all to messy and difficult to sort out - even the uninstall side of things is made virtually impossible to achieve (and the only reason I say "virtually impossible" is that I intend to find a way, but obviously not with the help of O&O!)

If I had to choose one, it would be that there are not very many custom options (ie defragging methods, not that I would know what to choose anyway)

Regular defragmentation speeds up systems, extends the life expectancy of hard disks and provides increased data security. The new version O&O Defrag 24 can simply be installed and then the user can let it do its work. It will carry out whatever is needed on a user's machine on its own. O&O Defrag will configure and run all settings automatically, according to the requirements of each system. Maximum performance practically out of the can.

Alternatively, O&O Defrag users can of course configure their own settings manually as much as they would like. The O&O Defrag interface has also been redesigned and customized for the latest requirements.

Many new things have been added to the O&O Defrag engine that make using it, especially under Windows 10, even better. That's why version 24 now supports the Windows 10-integrated feature for compressing system files so that more space can be kept free.

Thanks to the SOLID/COMPLETE method, data fragments scattered on SSDs will be combined and saved in fewer memory cells. This results in read and write processes requiring fewer accesses to these memory cells in the future. After defragmentation, the SSD works faster and its lifespan is extended because fewer read and write accesses are

needed.

And as always, everything happens automatically in the background. Even a change from hard disk to SSD will be recognized and the optimization strategy adjusted accordingly.

O&O Defrag 24 Professional Edition is compatible with Windows 8.x and Windows 10. It has been optimized especially for low processor and memory capacity in older systems. A Server Edition of the new version 24 will be available shortly for Windows Server versions.
