Open XML Converter allows you to convert Open XML files that were created in Office 2008 for Mac or Office 2007 for Windows so that you can open, edit, and save them in earlier versions of Office for Mac. Open XML Converter can convert Word documents, Excel workbooks, and PowerPoint presentations that are in the Open XML Format so that you can open and edit the files in Office 2004 for Mac and Office v. X for Mac. You can choose to convert and open one file, or convert a large number of files.

Version: Microsoft Open XML Converter 1.1.3

"It works as advertised."

Pros: Once installed, it seamlessly translated a rather large Word file from a colleague. Without it, no translation.

Cons: I noted the AutoUpdate bug. I just don't do updates unless it really is an updated version. but, I do hope they correct this.

Summary: If you need to translate a Microsoft file from Office 08 for Mac or 07 for Windows to Office 04 for Mac -- it gets the job done with no hassle. Would have given it 5 stars if not for the AutoUpdate bug.

"Bug in download/installation code"

Pros: It does exist

Cons: Converter 1.1.3 continues to show up in AutoUpdate no matter how many times you download application.

Summary: Installed several times using autoupdate function and could never get the AutoUpdate to STOP showing Converter 1.1.3 as needing to be downloaded. Trashed converter application and tried several time. Also tried to download directly from Microsoft --... read more >>
