Editors’ Review
MagicISO Maker is a shareware utility developed for handling CD and DVD image files. The tool supports operations such as creating, extracting, editing, and converting disc images, including formats like ISO, CUE/BIN, and its own UIF format.
You can modify files directly inside the image without unpacking them, convert physical media to image files, and build bootable .bif files. MagicISO Maker is also capable of handling compressed and encrypted disc images. However, the free version is limited to files under 300 MB. Though once widely used, the software is no longer updated or supported by its original developers.
Burn, build, write
MagicISO Maker can rename, extract, delete, or replace individual files inside the image without decompressing or unpacking the contents. It supports the creation of bootable ISO files using .bif boot information. You can convert folders, physical CDs or DVDs, and other image types into new ISO or BIN/CUE files. The interface utilizes a layout pane for drag-and-drop editing and file structure organization prior to building an image.
It supports burning ISO files directly to CDs or DVDs and compiling new image files from local directories. It accepts drag-and-drop folder input and provides layout previews before generating. It supports ISO, CUE/BIN, and UIF. Although UIF is a proprietary format, it includes a built-in converter to switch between UIF and ISO. The tool also supports multi-session image creation and recognizes file system standards, such as ISO 9660 and Joliet.
You can apply password protection and image compression before export. The tool also supports image extraction, allowing you to isolate and save individual files or folders from large disc images. Despite these features, its development stopped, and it no longer receives updates or security patches. Its functionality remains intact, but long-term usability is limited due to its outdated architecture and lack of official support.
Pros
- Supports ISO, BIN/CUE, UIF, and more
- Direct editing of files within images
- Bootable .bif image creation
- Works with optional virtual drive utility
Cons
- No further updates
Bottom Line
Aging but still functional
MagicISO maker offers a comprehensive suite of tools for editing, converting, and creating images, all within a single interface. It also enables users to work with bootable discs and legacy formats. However, the tool has received no updates. It lacks support for modern disc formats and large file handling. While it still performs basic image tasks reliably, it is no longer secure or frequent use in modern computing environments.
