Converts MS Works spreadsheet and database files into Excel format.

Little standalone program to convert MS Works spreadsheet (wks) and database (WDB) files to Excel (xls) format. It's very slow (this is by intention). It does not support batch conversion, but it does a very accurate and good conversion job. Due to the speed limitation it is absolutely not recommended if you have more than a few files to convert.

This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.

Destroys your data on purpose! Forces you to watch their advertisements. Painfully slow on purpose. Oh and did I mention it DESTROYS YOUR DATA ON PURPOSE!

When this was downloaded I tried to abort the installer. The system appeared to cancel it but fortunately my AV software caught the Malware.

It is one of the few free applications that I could find to convert .wdb file to Excel.
Cons
Sooooo slooow...with lots of advertising. Long upgrade advertising spiel before file conversion begins. Long strings of advertising are inserted in random cells making the resulting file practically worthless.
Summary
Desperate? Give it a shot. Otherwise, avoid this app. It's slow and frustrating. In fact, as soon as I submit this review, I'm going to blow away the app from my PC. The paid app might be worth it, if they pay you enough!

Seems to do a decent conversion that maintains formatting and font information.
Cons
Removes data from random cells, inserts an ad about who they are and how to contact them in random cells, This procedure throws off any calculation integrity. I don't recommend using the budget product.
Summary
I moved the entire school district from using works to using MS Office several years ago for ease of sharing data between schools and offices. Once in a while I get a staff member that finds old disks of data that were created in works and are now unreadable because works is not installed on any remaining computers. I would like the program if it didn't change the values of critical cells. On a small spreadsheet with 17 columns and 37 lines it randomly changed information in anywhere from 4 to 11 cells. I only have about 20 or 30 files to convert but if I have to convert every file two or three or four times and then triple check each document to ensure the integrity of the data; it is a complete waste of my time. I uninstalled the program and will install a licensed copy of works onto a spare machine and use that to convert these files. If you can't afford the full version then I wouldn't bother with this product at all. The full version for one workstation at the time of this writing is $78.93 USD and is not transferable to another machine. The full cooperate version is $314.01 USD for up to 5 workstations.
