From Retied Software:
Kurlo is a free, portable contact manager designed for personal and business use. Kurlo can easily be installed and run on a Windows computer and/or a portable device such as a USB flash drive or mp3 player. Features include multiple user capability, individual and organization contact management, address lists, email lists, event tracking and reminder, address label and envelope printing, import and export, maps and driving directions, data backup and email.
Version 1.3 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, and bug fixes.
I am happy with this software and that is still available for download. I used Kurlo software two years ago on my old Windows XP. Don?t know what took me so long to look for Kurlo software again. Works great on Windows 7.
No Cons. It is free !
I like this software because it works for my personal use. I used Kurlo software two years ago on my old Windows XP. Don?t know what took me so long to look for Kurlo software again. Works great on Windows 7. Imported all my contacts and did a user backed up. Wonderful Software. Thank You! I struggled for 2 years with the primitive Microsoft Works Word Processor for Windows 7 to print envelopes.
No keyboard support at all. Cannot even close a dialog box with the Esc key. Requires Java.
This program first appears promising, except it's a mouse-only operation. While there are 4 different ways of using the mouse to open a contact for editing, it won't even respond to the Enter key. And you cannot close a pop-up quickly with Esc. The fixed date format 02/03/2001 will mean you have to pause and think before knowing what date it really is (March 2 or February 3). That it requires Java is also a hassle to set up for portable operation. I am not wasting any more time on this program.
Easy to use. Loads of features. Customizable in a hundred ways. Set up custom fields any way you want them although the default fields are excellent. Seriously don't see myself using any other address or contact book again. Even emails & prints.
Didn't come with a thousand dollar gift certificate. Only thing that could've made it better.
Great "all-in-one" screen infos about a contact.
Multiple categories for each contact.
Spouse infos for couples, if you dont want to create a new contact for her(him).
No link between Organizations and People ! Unusable for professional use.
Infos (Outlook) miss : post adr vs geo adr...
E-mail calls local mail server, no way to another.
Dont try to copy it between computers, install locations are fixed on each.
Simple and nice for home use, not for personal + professional use ; so multi-accounts is not really useful.
UI is easy to use and nicely laid out, can easily see summary of family member information (spouse/children), ability to add custom date event fields (ex. "Graduation"), ease in creating subset address lists (ex. "Reunion 2009" or "Christmas Cards").
It would be nice to be able to keep a history (log) of recurring date events, such as visit dates to out of town relatives, etc. Otherwise, seems to totally meet my immediate needs.
Does exactly what it says it does, and does it well. It looks nice too, which is always a bonus. Plus its free!
1) The import field mapping is a little screwy; the default email address field is actually mapped to the ICQ field. TIP: If you're importing contacts, make sure the default email address in your CSV file is mapped to the ICQ field in Kurlo's file.
