  Installed the program and the additional software it required. That wasn't good enough because the program wouldn't let me create a user. It stubbornly rejected my efforts several times. It obviously doesn't like me. I just hope it likes other people. Maybe it's just full of animosity by nature.

  Summary

  I hate to waste my time on programs like this. People just put rubbish out there and wait for the money to pop into their bank accounts.

  Pros

  I like the format of My Journal, but it's outweighed by it's cons.

  It doesn't upgrade the previous version. It cannot open the previous version's files or backups. You cannot even do something as crude as copy/paste from the old version to this version as the old version doesn't permit copy/paste.

  Pros

  It works like a journal is suppose too. Easy to install and pretty icon and looks nice too. Not complicated or to cheesy.

  I wish it had more options but the simplicity is cool too.

  Summary

  I like its ease and writer friendliness. It is a simple program that is nicely detailed in looks and you feel like you are using a quality program.

  1.0 seems to work as promised although I lost a few days when I upgraded to 2.0 then immediately went back to 1.0

  The look of it.. Very eightyish..

  Summary

  Actually I went to efficient diary. I use 1.0 as a back-up in case efficient crashes but it hasn't yet.. I'm not trying to compare products and efficient diary looks similar to my journal (eightyish look) but efficient has some things that my journal doesn't. Bottom line, both are good programs, it's merely a matter of preference.

  Version 1.0 was free. I was surprised by 2.0 having a cost. (True 1/2 the cost of another date oriented program out there).

  Summary

  I honestly can't remember why I wanted to change from using M$ Word as my journal. Searches are easier in Word, the auto punctuation/capitalization in Word is great. I didn't use 2.0 to test those to see if they are there or not.

  This is a very simplistic program and for being free i would say A+ but it doesnt fully fill my needs in a journal. I could not edit previous entrys and I could not add entries for dated before I downloaded the program. Other features were average.

  This has to be the most particle download on c-net, bah nan! This is an excellent product. As a consumer, I like the simplicity of the easy to use interface.It has a nice clean layout and design, that is easy to learn. Just sign in; type; then save.

  Cons

  Too simple, with not much room for personal file creation. But that's about it for the cons!

  Summary

  It's overall practicality, ease of use is overshadowed by the graphic design/layout which looks outdated... but I can live with that! But what I can't live with, is the fact that for somebody like me who likes to gather the weekly moments, and place it in a seperate file for the week, & then collate those files into a monthly file for me to peruse at the end of the year, I feel particularly limited. Since the application of a 'files system', shouldn't be a major application to address, writing in my mock up Microsoft Word based Journal is a very simple affair for me, until this sort of option is available, in this product, I think i would continue to write with my Microsoft Word Journal. I think the possibility of an update of this product with a file creation option, within the diary itself would suit the serious users, like myself, of this product to a 'T'! But this product isn't bad at all. It only needs to be more 'user flexible'. The use of a calender in this particular product, is negligible. But I too, wish is it had a reminder/to-do list which could remind me of upcoming events, as was suggested by DanaNicole76. But it is a journal, and I could probably do without it if it meant the difference between having the extra files option or a reminder/to-do list. But, both file creation, & reminder/to-do list, would no doubt be superb!

• can't get this to run

  Nothing....it doesn't run.

  Cons

  I tried several times to get this to install on Windows 2000 with SP4. It would install but then give a runtime exception when starting to run it. So I installed it in XP with SP3. Same thing.

  Summary

  It sounds like a great product, if you can get it to run on your system. I, however, could not. 1 star out of 5, only because I can't give it 0 stars.
