From IHS :Job-1 is for IT pros whose first job is keeping a group of servers up and running and we promise not to break the bank like some folks try to. We understand. The core of Job-1 is a services monitor. Install Job-1 on a server, configure Job-1 to "watch" your critical services(e.g., SQL Server or IIS web server) on that computer. When a monitored service stops, Job-1 sends up to 3 emails so you know what's happened--often before your user calls in about the problem. If the monitored service is still down after a time interval that you define, Job-1 emails up to 3 escalations.If the service restarts, the same email addresses are notified. Job-1 includes a normal and a PDA website for a single point of reporting on your servers' status. If a server stops reporting to this single point, you're emailed about that in the same way. Job-1 lets you know what's wrong before users start crying. All without you crying about your budget. Works on small peer-to-peer setups too.
