From GSpot :GSpot codec information appliance establishes what video codecs (audio and video) are required to play an AVI file. Determines whether these codecs are installed on your system. Isolates problems associated with these codecs. Simple operation - Basic use: "File > Open", then read results. Identifies download induced problems (truncated files, "cooked" files, etc.) Shows framerate, duration, aspect ratio, bitrates, AVI structure info, and more. Displays and allows editing of RIFF info (title, etc); displays "hidden" ASCII info. Drag and Drop and "Send To" support, multi-file (batch) processing support Copy/Paste or text export GSpot information - format is user configurable. Built-in database of 350 video and 150 audio codec types Advanced UI including "dual-mode" and hyperlinked "persistent" tool tips Full support for OGG media files as well as AVI stream formats Identification (only) of non-AVI files (.mpg, .mov, .qt, .rm, .swf, .wmv, .asf, etc.) Supports VFW, ACM, DirectShow and DMO codec types (audio and video).
Version 2.6 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"Not downloaded G Spot For long"
Pros: I have not had a chance to use it yet. In seems too run in the background good you can't tell it's there
Cons: No faults as I have not had a chance to try it properly
Summary: I think GSpot will be a good download

Pros: find's most new updates quick and lets you decide what to do with them.
Cons: Dose not search for drivers

Pros: Didn't keep on my PC long enough or use it enough to determine any pros. I uninstalled it immediately.
Cons: Didn't do what I had hoped.
Summary: I had hoped it would provide some information regarding why so many AVI files that had played perfectly well with XP but not at all with VISTA or lead me to CODECs needed, but it didn't.

"GSpot is a must have for downloaders"
Pros: Audio and video files can be analyzed by GSpot before releasing these files into your computer system.Any damaged or incomplete files can be detected and discarded immediately.As for the appearance of GSpot I like the commercial no nonsense look .
Cons: None that I was able to locate.
Summary: Downloading music and video files were increasingly becoming a problem. I would download and store these files until I needed them .When I would find a file damaged or incomplete I would have to start over, deleting damaged or incomplete files, loca... read more >>

Pros: I dos what its supposed to--simply tells all about those- strange codec`ses You can meet. And its fast.
One of the programs I all ways -have on my computers
Did I say it is free--thanks to the creatorCons: Would be nice with a more modern look.
