"Interesting app"

March 31, 2015  |  By Alphonse A. Haggerty

 |  Version: Free Gif Maker 1.0

Pros

I have used this app and I must tell that it lets you turn your imaginations into pictures. I had explored this tool like none other. Now I know how to create gif images and I am very comfortable using this app. So, if you are new don't worry you also have the readymade images to work on. Just get as creative as you can.

Cons

Nice app..

"Useless Hunk of Garbage"

October 27, 2014  |  By KingMango

 |  Version: Free Gif Maker 1.0

Pros

None. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

Cons

What is the point of having a gif software that doesn't do animations??? You can enter one file that it will convert to gif. lol
I downloaded without reading description. I just saw 4 star review. I find that hard to believe. Most of the reviews must be fake.
Gif software should also be able to open a video clip and parse images from it to at LEAST get a 2 or a 3 star rating even if all else sucks.
But like I said. You can open ONE image. ONE IMAGE. lol
I also believe this software downloads and installs a bunch of spyware behind your back. The installer appeared to hang for almost a full minute before running through the process.
This is a fairly typical ploy for spyware to bypass sites like this you used to be able to trust.

Summary

don't waster your time. almost certainly malicious.

"Faster to use an online app"

October 23, 2014  |  By 7anac

 |  Version: Free Gif Maker 1.0

Pros

Works without an internet connection

Cons

You have to manually select each image one at a time. It is faster to upload your images to http://gifmaker.me/ and then download your newly created gif.

I found out the hard way! Don't be a sucker and download this!

"Holy Crap! BEWARE during installation!!!"

August 29, 2014  |  By drnstvns

 |  Version: Free Gif Maker 1.0

Pros

Free Gif maker

Cons

I can't believe no one has said more about the installation of this sucker. Not only do they try and sneak in more software installations but they also try to change your browser search engine and they present it in several different ways that if you aren't eagle eye during the installation you can very easily download and install one of them without knowing it. I counted EIGHT, yes EIGHT different tries to get me to install either a new search provider, a storm tracker browser add on, a YouTube Accelerator and on and on each one presented in away that looks like you just need to click the big obvious "Continue" button on the lower right of the installation window to complete the installation but if you look close its an offer for something else and tiny, tiny, tiny on the left side of the installation window without a button or underlined or anything eye catching you'll find a tiny 8pt font lower case "decline" to click. WATCH EVERY SCREEN until installed!

Summary

The software is fine, its just when a company is devious and deceptive from the get go I can never be fully at ease with their software on my computer. Rather than just openly offering you a free download during the installation you can easily accept or decline the fact that they instead sneak it into your installation very clearly trying to disguise the installation of other software and changing your browser settings. A perfect example is during the installation process the screens that you generally just click "accept' and mover forward are here too looks like you have to click that to install what you want but if you look close its to install something else and by only clicking the tiny, tiny word "decline" which is neither on a button or underlined so it doesn't look clickable and makes you feel like you are going to stop the installation of the software you DO want can you move to the next screen in the installation. This is just one of three different tacticts they used during the install process to trick you into installing stuff you didn't ask for.
This kind of deceptive behavior by the software company
1) Makes you wonder why they are hiding all this stuff rather than openly and proudly offering you their product and
2) Why have they clearly gone to a lot of effort to hide it in a way that it looks like part of the installation process which will trick people into installing something they didn't ask for which
3) Leads users (well, me anyway) to only come to the conclusion they are up to something (spyware) which
4) Leaves me wondering what the software I DID install might be up to
Because of all that, no matter how good or how free their software is I won't use it because clearly this company is offering these free downloads with other, darker intentions in mind because otherwise they wouldn't need to hide, sneak and trick people into using their stuff.

Updated on Aug 29, 2014

Forgot to mention, when you do open the software you must register by submitting an email address to receive a "unique serial number" to activate the software otherwise it won't work at all. I'm telling ya they are up to some major privacy/spy shenanigans here because who makes you register for FREE software? AND by registering you have to agree to their privacy policy and terms of service. Can't WAIT to read those. tsk tsk tsk

"Adware you can decline is one thing but antivirus alert"

June 20, 2014  |  By burg0823

 |  Version: Free Gif Maker 1.0

Pros

It's probably a good program but I'll never find out since it's bundled with malware

Cons

The install program is immediately detected by my antivirus software as MalSign.OutBrowse.5D2 and the only way to run it was to disable the antivirus first. That is totally unacceptable. I've been downloading stuff from download.cnet.com for years and I know the routine of declining all the stuff you don't want to get to the part you do want. You should never have to disable an antivirus program just to run an installer. I am very disappointed.

Summary

nuff said in the con section.
