Flv Crunch is one of many free tools available for converting various video and audio files to multiple formats. The application has a pretty standard user interface, giving you access to the basic conversion operations without any customization options, but you won't really miss them, as Flv Crunch does a very good job in a short time frame.
If you are a novice user, you may want to access the built-in Help file, but intermediate and advanced level users will intuitively know where to click and what action to take in order to improve the video conversion. What we liked is the application's ability to convert a long list of file types such as MPEG and Windows Media Player files, and convert them into the most common ones used on the Mac OS X platform.
The video conversion process is as easily said as done. Here FLV Crunch comes with very useful presets to allow you to work more easily, allowing you to quickly convert videos to iPod- and iPhone compatible formats or just standard VGA. However, there are little tricks you may want to learn in order to get the best conversion. For example, if the video you want to convert is in high quality, you'll need to check the high-quality option in order to keep the same quality after the file is converted. Once you remember these details, we think you'll like this simple app as much as we did.
Overall, FLV Crunch's performance was great; we couldn't find any issues during our testing, and its easy-to-understand interface make the video memories conversion process seamless and fun. Highly recommended for all levels of users.

Does exactly what it says, audio, video - and outputs in nearly every format. Very simple, and where do I send my donation? Output is flawless.

Can be slow, but depends on file types, and slow=quality.

I would pay for this application. I can not tell you how many BS apps I have downloaded from CNET in the last 14 years that have just turned out to be pure trash. This thing is a full fledged utility workhorse, and they should be charging for it. Leave a comment where to send the money and I will send it.

"Works even better than VLC"

Plays all kinds of video files. Lots of different conversion options. Performs good-looking exports. And it's free!
Cons
The "Remove" button doesn't seem to work when you want to remove a file from the list of source files to be converted. This can be a problem if you accidentally put the wrong file in the list and want to delete it. The workaround is to quit FLV Crunch, re-start it with an empty source files box, and repopulate the box with the files you do want to convert.
Summary
My compliments to the creator. I had two files downloaded from the internet which had an odd problem. In QuickTime, Movist, MPEG Streamclip and other programs, the two clips played for five minutes each -- but in VLC they turned out to be 30 minutes long each!
I wanted to export them to another file format so I could play them in QuickTime or any other program for the full 30 minutes -- but of course VLC doesn't do file-to-file conversions. I tried all kinds of other programs. FLV Crunch was the first and only app that would both play the full movies and export them to another format as well. I converted my two files to .mp4s, and they look great.

I just got my brand new 27 inch iMac, with all the trimmings. I switched from a PowerPC Mac laptop. It worked fine on my laptop, but on my new iMac after I've converted the video but I tried to open up the video it opened up the conversion program, instead of video. I tried reopening it several times but the same thing kept happening. I tried with other videos that I recently downloaded and converted, but it did the same thing on all of them. I wound up deleting the program, and I'm going to try downloading again from my new Mac to see if that makes a difference. I will keep you posted if I have better luck.

my video that i want to convert is almost 2 hours, it only converts 12 mins of it! i have tried to change the time sets but still does not convert rest of video!

Works easily, very intuitive, installs fast, it's free, all kinds of formats in and out.

Quality is extremely bad. I converted a MOV file to a WMV file. Same exact res, size, frame rate, etc. It was pretty bad, about the worst conversion I've seen. Not usable for anyone who is even close to professional.
