Simple to use (RTFM). Does what it says. Avoids creating multiple-deep directories for one obscure song. Very Speedy. (NOTE: I did *NOT* use this for ID tagging manipulations; just moving and sorting files.)
Does not deal well with corrupt files (well....whaddya want fer nuthuin?).
Would be nice to rename duplicate files when moving....(but...see above :p )
I've had this program for a few months now. I had about 700 mp3's whose titles were incomplete (Just song titles -- no artist). Luckily the tags indicated the Artist and Track Title. It renamed all 700 in less than 5 seconds. And you can configure the renaming template any way you want.
So as long as your tags are intact, FSU recognizes them and renames them. Insofar as installing it: it was a snap. Evidently some people here don't know how to extract their files. I now have an icon on my desktop and one in my Quicklaunch.
Plus, it's a very small program. It doesn't eat up your hard drive.
Unless I'm missing something, tagging isn't as intuitive as it is with other tagging programs. But that's a negligible drawback considering the myriad benefits.

In haste, I had written a caveat regarding this program. I've since discovered my concerns were unfounded. To the Download.com admins: please delete my reply to my own thread. My original review still stands.

While I'm quite happy with this program, the one MAJOR drawback (and it's a BIG one) is that if your artist and title tags are not intact -- ie. properly tagged -- you'll lose your files.
(TIP: If you're using FSU and it tells you that "(something) Already Exists! Do You Want To Replace It?") SAY NO! Don't cancel, otherwise it will somehow delete the file and you won't be able to recover it (it won't me moved to the Recycle Bin). I learned this the hard way with hundreds of files. :~o(
Changed the name of multiple MP3 files and changes the ID3 tags all correctly. Small download, easy instal.
Very confusing .zip file. Has tons of files that seem not to be used. The instal does not work. You must open the file from the zip file always, unless you transfer every file yourself to your computer.
Even the front page for this sorftware is messed up. Definitely a beginner program, not recommended for your file and ID3 editor.
Good shot. Liked the disclaimer in the readme file "I am not responisible for what this does to your computer" (thats why its free)
crash burn crash burn, error msg # 5 prorgam crash. Try and remove tags computer crash. burn burn burn.
I could not have asked for more from this program, I sorted 700 songs in a matter of seconds. It quickly sorted all my music into artist-title.mp3. It also does the Tagging for you.
From the name I was expecting a utility to sort the files on my mp3 player, so they get played in the right order. But it's more of a mass renaming utility. The author states the program can be used on any kind of file. Well allright then. Loaded up my mp3 player with wma files and changed the extension of the input/output patterns to '.wma'. Set off to rename the files. It renamed the files just fine, only the extension became '.mp3'. That's pretty bad. I didn't like the unfriendly user interface either. I can let the program copy, move or rename my files. Why, does it make any bit of difference to me how the result is achieved? Which one should I choose and why? Sorry to say I can't recommend this one.
When installing, it prompts you to replace two of you current DLL files with the older versions contained in the FSU install package. If you choose to keep your newer DLL files, it'll clash with Visual Basic Runtime, and the install won't proceed.
the first free tagger that does the job well, and its pretty customizable to work with any filename formats
overall its cool!
I got over 2,000 mp3 to sort. The sort was quick but the ability to sort by genre is a bit rough. If the mp3 don't have tags then one by one editing is very slow. It need the abilty to edit muliple file at once. MP3 Boss is a bit better... Overly complex though
this did everything i wanted to do to my large music collection (over five gigs) in just about an half hour of tinkering and retries. it took a few tries, but i managed to get rid of Album numbers, - and extra spaces. now it's all even and nice, thanks whoever programmed this!
