"Amazing software!"
Version: Express Talk 4.10
Pros
Any SIP provider allowed
Great amount of features
Amazingness comes standardCons
I didn't find any cons really, except for my mic buzzing, but that's just m mic
Summary
This is straight-down-to-it software, gets the job, but comes with cool nifty features

"Works as well as I'd hoped. Nice to have options"
Version: Express Talk 3.10
Pros
Free - and the ability to have up to (6) SIP accounts. Interface is nice, but hot as flashy as X-Lite (which really looks like a mobile phone).
Cons
I've had calls get cut off using this and X-Lite - so it must be unrelated to the software. Could be intermittent Internet issue, but have had problem on both wireless connection and hardwired connection and w/ both sipgate and gizmo5.

"Solid, reliable softphone"
Version: Express Talk 3.08
Pros
Installed and did basic device testing without a hitch. No device coonflicts. Happy with Vista. I use this with our office VOIP phone system and it's just like having an extension on my laptop anywhere in the world. Excellent sound quality.
Cons
None so far
Summary
I replaced X-Lite with Express Talk after X-Lite started locking up and destabilizing my Vista machine. ET works like a charm. Goes in easy, sets up easy, and works without a hitch, at least when I use it as an extension phone on our business VOIP phone system. I have not tried it in any other mode, including video.

"Not too many frills, and does what it says."
Version: Express Talk 3.03
Pros
We have a VOIP account with our ISP and a modem/router which has a cordless phone plugged into it. However, it's so much easier to use the headset that's already on the PC for long calls, and this software makes that very easy to do.
Setup took 3 minutes and it was working immediately. There's not too many frills and distracting options. but the main functionality is clear and well thought-out.
It'll soon be used on my wife's laptop on a 'naked DSL' (i.e. no landline) connection as the main phone at her clinic.
It's also a convenient way to record both sides of a conversation to an MP3 file.
I haven't used the video capability, so I won't comment on that.
